Why do you personally prefer using an Android phone?
There is a lot more freedom on Android. I want to be able to side load.

Is brave or firefox with ublock better in terms of resource consumption?
Can't say for sure but I know the ad blocker in Brave is built in rust which should give better performance than standard extensions.

Best/usable free Evernote alternative
I recently tried UpNote which is pretty cross platform.
Maybe give that a try and if you like it, they have a lifetime license.
(I'm not affiliated with them but I've tried every major note taking app and recently landed on this one that I've been pretty happy with)

Boost for Lemmy is now live
This is so good. I've never felt at home with Sync or Jerboa. But Boost feels very right and I can enjoy reading subreddits/communities on my mobile again.

Do you avoid places which only accept cash!
Depends on the place. If it's some small bakery or something, I will ask them if they accept credit cards or any cashless options, and if they say cash only, I will leave. I want management to see that offering multiple payment options matters.
I always have cash on me, of course and there are places I need to use it, such as the cash-only discount drug stores, local clinics, etc. But most of my daily stuff can all be done with a credit card, smartphone, cashless, etc. Restaurants are a toss-up if you're not in big cities.

Sharp to Introduce AQUOS sense8 Smartphone
They haven't announced a price yet, right? Also how many years of updates?
Edit: According to a Japanese article I read, it's 62,150円 on Docomo's online shop.

Does it feel like the fediverse is exclusively used by older tech nerds?

Same here! I'm always surprised by people now refusing to consider the idea, just wanting one universal company/service. It's like they can make room for email in their understanding, but can't do that again today. 🤷♀️

Are you replacing Reddit with Lenny?
Now that Boost no longer works, I have no reason to go to Reddit. Lemmy all the way at this point.

That's good to know. I was considering MUFJ a while back but ended up opening accounts with Sony and SBI Shinsei.

Appreciate you sharing more details about SBI Shinsei! Just out of curiosity, what do you use Sony Bank for if SBI Shinsei is your main?

I use IIJMIO. Specifically the docomo network option. Roll over data and great pricing. If you want to sign up, buy their kit on Amazon digitally which is like 300 yen or so, will waive the normally 3000 yen registration fee.
I basically pay 1000 yen a month for 5 GB (but roll over makes it now 10 GB)
