Rockstar selling you cracked copies on Steam
Remember that time a random player DRAMATICALLY decreased load times for GTA online after finding bad code that preloaded TONS of game assets? After like, a decade?

Completely logical as much of it is removed on Reddit and many of us are curious about our old stomping grounds. It's the people complaining about it that are getting tiring.

It may sound silly but it's put succinctly and there's an element of grim truth to it.
Additionally, do we have to compare everything to Reddit? It's the Internet, people are going to cope how they cope.

An armed man tried walking into a Jewish school in Memphis and opened fire outside when he couldn’t get in, police say
The shooter was also Jewish and a former student for anyone that didn't read the article and is about to jump to conclusions.

Just what Lemmy needs, a thread that kills engagement because megathreads don't work. I know most of us don't have apps with keyword filters yet (lifesaver), but I'd much rather have too much of something than not enough while trying to grow a community. Annoying growing pains over ghost town any day.

Many of us knew back with the firing of Victoria and Pao the sacrificial lamb, but June 12th truly sealed their fate. About forking time.

It's not so much that it's anime as it is Elon liking a comment about someone wanting to fuck heavily sexualized teens that look a very specific way...that happens to be in an anime.

Jerboa appreciation
Jerboa alone has made the transition from Boost on Reddit to Lemmy and the fediverse incredibly easy.

That Portal 64 demake we liked so much has been kiboshed by Valve: 'They have asked me to take the project down,' creator says

Yes, but mainly because Valve doesn't want to deal with Nintendo's lawyers since it used their libraries.

Jerboa seems to crash when clicking links with the ! point but I can do it from the desktop browser. This is great!

I still can't believe this works and actually puts people back in the fight. If we'd tried this in old 2nd or 3rd edition tabletop we'd be laughed at by our DM.

Jerboa has made the transition much smoother than I expected. Dark mode, card views and basic collapsing and font adjustment is such a relief.

Defederated instances took it too personally, it was by design. Beehaw may have jumped the gun acting quickly and we can disagree with their reasoning all we want, but that's their prerogative to isolate/protect the community they have. It's a feature, not a bug.

You'd be surprised to realize what a pain in the ass it is to host a good deal of videos. There's more lost content (shows, movies and commercials) combined than archived data that exists today. Media was simply not kept and storage written over. Sadly, we're going to keep losing it.
