Gear loadout for my first 2-gun match

Here's my operator on a budget loadout that I ran this weekend in the mud:

Rifle: Poverty Pony basic bitch AR with 16" barrel & A2 FSB, Magpul MOE SL furniture, Primary Arms SLX-MD25 and SLX 3x magnifier + some ranger wrap, Vickers padded sling

Pistol: CZ P-10F with Holosun SCS

PC: Velocity Mayflower LEPC, Esstac Daeodon placard, Beez Combat Systems skeletal cummerbund with tubes, Veritac level IV plates

Belt: Blue Alpha light Molle, PIG Delta gloves, Glock field knife, Esstac KWYI doublestack, Bladetech holster adapter, True North MHA, holster by Legacy Firearms, rando Amazon trash IFAK, dump pouch, and TQ holster

Pack: Condor Hydration II and Maxpedition shoulder pads

I took 25th out of 84 total competitors, got more than a few compliments on performing with a non-Gucci gun. Competed in Armored division which requires rifle plates and retention of all supplies/gear/accoutrements on the competitor's person for the entire duration. Other than some derp fit issues with the backpack that I absolutely could have addressed in the field if I had taken some time, the whole getup worked beautifully for me. Both firearms ran perfectly, and the only shots I missed were entirely my fault.

Roast my kit!

Can anyone explain how shotgun cards are intended to be used?

I'm looking to compete in a shotgun/pistol match in June and have zero shotgun-related pouches for my plate carrier and/or belt. I'm a big Esstac fan and have KWYI pouches on both, and I see that they offer shotgun cards that are apparently the perfect size to slot into the KWYI pouches, but I had no idea how they're intended to be used. It looks like you just yank it out and there's your shells, but it looks like it would be difficult to manipulate with my support hand while hanging on to the shotgun. Am I missing something? Is there some other way they're intended to be used? I have also seen some placards that essentially look like a velcro backer that the cards are just stuck to, at least with those it looks like I could pull individual shells loose without having to look down. Any recommendations? I'm not opposed to buying a whole new placard and/or belt solution if I have to.
