What game is improved the most by mods?

Reply in thread

The mods added so much new content, that in my case, it created a "mod fatigue" situation, where I had installed so much mods that the game would start to break very easily, and I also would no longer enjoy the game for what it is. But recently, I tried playing it again, this time restraining my use of mods, and it was awesome !

Mods can be pretty good, but overmoding is quite tiring :')

Anyone else miss old-school digital pet games, like Petz 5? Plus: a small rant about the game industry state re. "girly" games.

As a boy, when I was a teen, I loved all the pet games on the DS, like Nintendogs, or other games where we have a vet clinic, or we handle horses and take care of them. There were may be not the best, but I quite enjoyed them at the time ! Nowadays, when I look at the Switch eshop, most pet games are shovelware, that are very targeted at girls, but are just cash grabs. I find it quite sad :/

Hopefully, as @[email protected] said, cozy and life games are plentiful now, which makes me think in the future, we might see new pet indie games. There are already some games in between, like Calico, which is a Cat Cafe Manager, and is cute af

I must agree, especially with horror games based on enemies (Slender, Amnesia etc.). As a child/teen, I did not have any idea of how enemies worked in most games, which made the game have some sort of aura and be really terrifying. Now that I have more knowledge on how the AI works, the same horror game I used to play are less scary (at least, the way the monster works)

[Possible spoilers] For those who played Outer Wilds, what was your favourite part of the game or your most "Ha-Ha!" discovery ?

It's such a shame I used online guides for some parts of the game (such as the quantum moon tower puzzle). I think if I pushed a little harder, I would have been much more satisfying !

It's still crazy to me how they thought out all of the mechanics of the game like the quantum objects not moving when observed by a photograph.

Has anybody played the new Etryian Odyssey HD collection and how do they compare to the originals?

I did not play the new HD games, and I am probably not going to because of the high price. It seems from the pictures in the switch shop, and the descriptions of the game, that they only added some new assets for the characters, transformed all the graphics in high resolution one and adapted the map mechanics to fit the Switch. In terms of gameplay (except the map) or story, or even graphics, there does not seem to be anything new compared to the original. I honestly do not know how much work goes behind the scene to make such a remaster happen, but I'm still pretty let down that they did not change much (They could have at least made the visuals a little better, like, redrawing the environment, or showing the bosses in the world as real models instead of weird suns).

What I mean is that it maaay be better to just play the original on DS (or on an emulator). But remember, my opinion is just from seeing the Switch shop page.

However, if anyone has played the HD collection, I would also like to get input from them !

It's more like cheating, but I used to be pretty frustrated when losing at Faster Than Light. So I used CheatEngine to give myself a lot of health/money. It was fun at first, I was able to see more things and have so many weapons on my ship. But it did not make up for my lack of skill with the game, and I quickly lost interest with the game, because there was no more challenge.

well i tried

I hate it when the streaming services do this. It's even more frustrating when you see the title in the search results. I understand why it's like that (because of streaming rights, and ownership and all that), but man, it's so frustrating.
