Republican Winsome Earle-Sears is on the defensive in Virginia’s race for governor

Never underestimate the Democrats’ ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I spend a lot of time in leftist circles (various groups) and enthusiasm for Spanberger is pretty low between her very centrist campaign and her bragging about her ties to law enforcement and the CIA. My own view is that harm reduction…any harm reduction at all…is never a bad thing even if I don’t like her positions on other issues. She’ll be a welcome relief on abortion, LGBTQ rights, book bans, public education, gun control, and some other issues even if she has to be pushed on data centers/climate issues and police. I get that we all hate having to hold our noses and vote for the lesser of two problematic candidates but I never understood sitting on the sidelines and waiting around for some mythical progressive savior to descend from the heavens, as DSA tends to do.

How are you all doing? - weekly thread #19 (late... again lol)
Just trying to keep some hope alive that we can emerge from this dark period; also dealing with a high level of dissatisfaction with my life in recent years, and wishing I had made different decisions many years ago; I can’t help but wonder if I missed an opportunity to be in a better situation. Been heavy on the nostalgia lately.

Tomato season, part 2
Beautiful! Sadly most of my heirloom tomatoes start developing rot as they ripen, with the exception of grape and cherry tomatoes.
