As a car enthusiast and backyard mechanic, this is precisely why I prefer to own older vehicles. If something goes wrong with my '06, I can handle that. My friends/family members with newer cars, by and large, can't even handle their own basic maintenance because of the way things are designed now. It's worse than planned obsolescence, it's engineered difficulty.

As a bartender, the reasons are basically:

1- Tips! People like a little something fun to watch. I don't drag things out or do any big fancy tricks(flair bartending is actually illegal in this State, or so I'm told), I'm not trying to hold my line up or make anyone wait for their drink longer than necessary. That being said...

2- It also alleviates boredom for me, the one making the 30th Peach Fairy Dust Spritzer of the evening. At a certain point it's all just muscle memory anyway to make the drink itself, it's fun to do something a little different.

Why, what happens with unpasteurized cider?

As far as I've been able to tell after poking around on the various "new Twitters," Bluesky looks to be the best spiritual successor. The whole "invite only" thing was a bit of a pill but it's easy enough to get a code these days that that's not really a roadblock.
