Yep I had the same issue here. (Pixel 8)

My solution that worked was downloading and installing through Aurora Store. I had to buy it on another android first.

I have graphene os with the sandboxed google play so I wonder if it has anything to do with that?

EDIT: Never mind. Just saw that you had a Nothing Phone

Probably Nothing much out of the ordinary now days.
