Doom Eternal and especially its challenge arenas are immediately what came to mind for me!

While id soft screwed Mick Gordon on the OST, they did so much right in the gunplay and movement mechanics in that game. Rotating through the power trinity and bhopping around an arena whilst gibbing demons is something I just don’t tire of.

Not OP, but can you sell me on Aurora? Every time I’ve tried any of the Fedora Immutable distros they just feel slow and awkward. I have a few tools that need rpm-ostree installs and fighting with flatpak permissions is the bane of my existence

I use Zed as my primary editor these days. It’s just about ready for prime time!

Honestly I’m in love with CachyOS (Arch derivative). Not only have they done a bunch of optimization work, but it’s quite stable (for Arch) and has a graphical way to do just about everything- including the install process

Honestly I never really got into using any of the terminal based editors- I like a pretty GUI, personally.

That being said I have been a KDE user for the last couple of years and actually have quite a favourable view on Kate. It’s a very competent editor with a great deal of extensibility.

The big difference between the two is their focus. Zed is written to be targeted at developers and as such has some capabilities that Kate doesn’t (afaik) like an AI assistant panel, handling multi megabyte text files with grace, and being able to directly connect to remote file systems over SSH.

If you’re not looking for those features I think you’d be very happy with Kate!

It turns out Bazzite was the image for me though, far easier to layer VSCode and 1Password onto Bazzite than getting steam working on Bluefin

For anyone following this thread, I successfully moved my gaming desktop and my framework laptop to Bazzite last night!

I initially went with Bluefin, but it was easier to layer VSCode and 1Password onto Bazzite than it was to get Steam working on Bluefin

The big problem for me was SSH and IDE tools. Iirc they only worked with stuff installed on the base image (I use 1Password’s ssh agent)
