White House blasted by AP reporter for touting tariffs as 'a tax cut for the American people': 'Have you ever paid a tariff?'

Man people are dumb, for those that still think this is a good idea here is the logic. Tariffs increase the price to bring in goods to a country, the supplier will typically add this additional price increase and charge it back onto the buyer to absorb. Meaning the buyer will see an increase.

Now let’s say Trump is doing this to bring production back to the States, in order to be successful you need to keep costs down as low as possible. This is also the reason alot of countries sent their production overseas because it’s cheaper (wages for example). So in order for the US to even begin competing with production giants like China and keep costs down means workers in the US have to get used to the idea of China style wages and work conditions. Hence Trumps reasoning for giving more power back to companies so that in X years US becomes the new production hub. But the pain to get there is going to be astronomical for the US. Feel free to add or point out any illogical thought processes in my opinion.

Australian with working visa detained and deported on returning to US from sister’s memorial

Reply in thread

I googled this,

“Generally, *holding a US work visa does not require special permission to leave and re-enter the country, as long as your visa and the period of stay authorized by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are valid“

So if you have a valid source for that I would be interested to see it. I won't lie though even if you can produce anything it wont make me think of the US as anything but a shithole because that's a shitty thing to have anyway.

Trump says tariffs on autos, pharmaceuticals coming in 'near future'

As someone not in the US I approve of all these tariffs. It won’t be making the US great anytime soon and providing the rest of the democratic countries don’t cave to this orange turd then gives us a chance to divest ourselves from the US. All that soft power the US actually had is evaporating every-time he opens his mouth or Leon cuts away at more government departments.

So conservatives how does your win feel looking down the barrel of an economic crash and the US looking weaker overall?

His Daughter Was America’s First Measles Death in a Decade

I don’t understand why so much death of innocent kids can then just be swept under the guise of some “god’s will” with these religions. In light of today’s advancements and studies their distrust of reality is what causes these events. To me they are monsters for not taking the steps necessary to protect their own community. I am all for people needing or wanting religion but the longer your religion clings to the past then be prepared for such events. Just a shame of all the other innocent lives that might be lost because of these actions as well.

This self-ish mentality is rife and something I noticed alot more during covid. When most people during that period would not even take basic measures to help protect their own community, mind you these same people are also always the ones that decry freedom of speech and rights. The right for them to say anything and also the right to not vaccinate. But then you ask them about trans, gay rights and abortion rights then you really see who they are, because it’s just rules for me but not for thee with these people.

Then they try the it’s against my religion approach, then you ask them about those same freedoms for other religions, whoa whoa slow down there because this level of freedom only applies to Christians. Hypocrites

Not to mention the gay conservatives that have essentially voted for their own rights to be chipped away at by the far right. It’s like they are wearing blinders to their own prejudice being ushered in again after decades of progress.

It’s truly staggering the amount of cognitive dissonance, hate yet at the same time the inability to even realise that the freedoms that these people try to strip away from others are also the same freedoms that will also be stripped away from them at some point as they through their own idiocracy inch themselves further into authoritarian dictatorship.

Harvard Announces It Will Defy Trump Order to Cut DEI Programs and Expel Pro-Palestinian Protestors

Reply in thread

Thats not evidence, and that is just confirmation bias. If an actual study was performed looking at the hiring processes and the end result of alot of companies then that would be evidence. Also if there was a rise in discrimination law suits in situations where DEI was a determining factor would even be evidence.

What you said was basically was “Someone said it exists so it must”.

Lol I remember going into askconservative and trying to ask them about freedom of speech and having to tip toe around trans rights because that was a sensitive subject to them. Imagine that the party of free speech being snowflakes about a subject that if they were true to their words they would not give a fuck about.
