Eh... as someone living in western Europe, I can't say it's free. I would say that it's subsidized at most. We still have to pay a part of our healthcare, we can get a private health insurance to complete the government coverage, but it's still not enough to cover all of it.

Mental health isn't covered at all, ophtalmology barely (still gotta pay 200€ for a pair of glasses, after public + private coverage), dental only the very basic is covered...

“Communism bad”

Reply in thread

I like this comparison, it's actually interesting to think about.

Pretty much everyone tends to agree with the scientifical consensus that climate change is coming, whether they are capitalist or communist. The only people who disagree are those who are financially invested in oil, gas, or coal.

In a similar manner, the message that "communism is bad" comes from capitalist regimes that have a financial interest in preserving the status quo. If you want to understand people within a capitalist society, a really good way to do it is simply to follow the money.

I swear it’s like arguing with a toddler.

Imagine how they are feeling arguing with you, making up crazy imaginary scenarios in your head and refusing to explain them.

Times Square

they seem to have left the square to clear nearby streets

That sounds so strange, how do we expect them to clear entire streets if they can't even get past a single guy armed with grocery bags?

A Nazi is a real thing, there was a Nazi party that ruled a country, and there are still people nowadays who adhere to the ideals of that party.

There was never a "Tankie" party, it's something that only exists in your head and has no representation in the real world.
