i find it's a great tool.

I LOVE systemd, flatpaks, appimages, wayland, and pipewire. The desktop environment feel way more managed!

Sure, wayland is not complete yet (HDR), flatpak is missing some things (some portals), but the whole ecosystem is way more mature than before.

This is from someone who used init.d scripts, apt-get and dpkg, x.org, and alsa/pulseaudio/gstreamer.

A classic

The funny thing is that, unlike fake UI in other movies, this was indeed a real demo for silicon graphics computers: http://www.sgistuff.net/funstuff/hollywood/jpark.html

Towards the end of the movie the kids use the computer to lock the doors. This is the great moment of fsn ("fusion") the File System Navigator which is a real demo application and was not written for the movie. A binary was available from the official Silicon Graphics website for a long time.

Low dopamine computing

As someone who didn’t have enough money to get a color monitor, I can tell you colors have almost nothing to do with dopamine generation. I played a lot of games in B&W and even used mspaint! Printed my beloved drawings in a dot matrix printer…

I think you mean to reduce distractions, not colors…
