Around 1.5 years ago lemmy.ml restricted wolfballs for "racism, homophobia, etc.". I think you can understand what our beliefs are by this verry short story.

Yes, there is a new release of lemmy backend (0.18.0) and EH hasn't updated to it yet. The update isn't very stable and the admin decided to wait until the new release comes.
