I'm enjoying Lemmy so far, for the most part.
Everything here is pretty good save for the fact that all the news and politics I can find is dominated by the same few accounts.
Half or more of the accounts have a very clear agenda. They modify headlines. Lie. Spread disinformation. And generally are just extremely toxic groups.
It doesn't seem to be a secret here either. And moderators appear to have no interest in putting a stop to it.
So, where are you subbed to for reliable news and US/Global politics?
This group all seem to have multiple accounts on multiple instances.
I almost pointed it out in my first thread here, but it wasn't clear at first what was going on.
If you look a little closer, you'll see they post a lot wild shit there. But, they also spam a lot of their stuff all over Lemmy without the lemmygrad.ml instance.
They post altered articles and inflammatory disinformation at a rate faster than even some of the bots can compete with.

About a week now since I joined Lemmy. It seemed to me at first that place like this, where the tech knowledge prerequisites are a little higher than Reddit or Twitter, and being a lot of Reddit refugees, would be a bit of a liberal haven.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against discourse, although these days that is trying at best. But, in the last few days I've been running into a lot of bullshit MAGA style nonsense on Lemmy.
And, I gotta say, that's a bit disappointing.
Leaving Reddit and Twitter and looking for alternative ways to stay up to date on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This seems to be the community with the highest subscriber count.
