Here's what the internet might look like without Reddit
I'm loving this non stop coverage of the blackout. It can't be a good luck for investors interested in reddit

It makes me very happy to hear Linus say this

Apollo for Reddit is shutting down

I'm hoping Christian ports Apollo to Lemmy. I'm not sure what the feasibility of doing so is but I'd actually pay a monthly subscription for the ability to continue using it

Congrats Toronto! I'm jealous you guys got to actually vote in someone progressive (I'm from Ottawa and we recently voted to slightly lower property taxes over everything else)

I didn't know this wasn't already banned... I guess I'm happy it is now

Musk stiffing Google could unleash yet more abuse on Twitter, report says
I can't wait for the EU to finally just ban the site and app already.
It's funny that the two biggest sites that the fediverse competes with decided to nuke themselves one after the other.

why do people like beer?
You can't get drunk off it? You'd have to have a really high alcohol tolerance unless you're drinking really light beer.
Also, I like the taste of beer and so do most people who drink it, as I'm sure you know. I'm not sure what the point of you asking this is

Question: Are there any Reddit admins on lemmy I wonder
Reply in thread
Honestly I'm sure a lot (or at least some) of the reddit employees who have been there for longer feel the same way as we do. I can imagine if you joined back when reddit was open source or even shortly after, seeing reddit go down this path would be upsetting.
I know if my company decided to screw over our users this badly, my morale would be non existant. Most people don't have that much loyalty to their companies and reddit would be no different

Cities: Skylines II Is a Truly Enormous Sequel - and It's Built as Much for Console as PC - Xbox Wire
I'm so hyped for this. My two biggest wishes for it are better support for public transport oriented and walkable cities, and better performance when playing larger cities

Yeah a farewell would be good. In my dream scenario, he would open source it and the community could port it. That might be unlikely though

I've never heard of us being referred to as festival city lol

How do you get around daily?
My cities public transport is terrible but I live in what's basically a street car suburb close to the downtown so I can do most of my day to day stuff by walking. I also have an electric scooter for longer trips. For trips that require me to go into the burbs, I do have a car but I prefer to avoid using it

Yeah that's the first thing I always think when I see stuff like this. Also do other people not obsessively check their bank account balances? Haha

Interesting. This means it would support running directly in a standard browser as well right? With a different launch configuration of course

🧹🧼Cleaning up after myself on Beehaw
Other people have already mentioned that the comments are only soft deleted but I'd also like to mention that comments are an inconsequential amount of data so it's not really worth it. What'd take up the most space would be stuff like link image previews and stuff like that

Wiki on fediverse?

If a federated wiki could replace fandom.com I would be so happy. That site is a nightmare of ads on mobile and needs to be replaced.

Redditors, how do you like Lemmy?
Reply in thread
I love it it because i don't feel like my comments on posts just get lost in a landslide of other comments. It's a smaller community but we have access to so much content through the fediverse. It's perfect
