Twitch changed the rules for how streamers could do sponsored content. Banned any kind of baked in audio or video ads, banner ads, etc. Also didn’t allow any branding (of the streamer or a sponsor) to cover more than 3% of the screen space meaning that streamers couldn’t have a logo with their name or other socials on the stream.

These changes came almost immediately after they announced new advertising tools, so it seems like they’re trying to force streamers to advertise in a way that they get a cut of the advertisement revenue.

The update had me confused for ages too. Glad I’m not the only one

As someone new to the platform, the initial sign up process was a little daunting. Despite spending some time reading about it, and asking a couple of questions on reddit, “how to choose an instance” wasn’t a question I could easily find answers too. I gravitated towards larger instances assuming that the sign up process would be more streamlined, support would be better, and there would be less risk of permanent closure.

That being said, I plan to move to a smaller instance or host my own as my familiarity with the platform grows. I’ve seen similar sentiments by others on here as well

Super interesting perspective! I have a pretty non technical friend that got pretty into stable diffusion a while back and was able to do really cool things with it. The idea that LLMs can be that accessible is really exciting.

if you’re the first person on your instance to search for them, you’ll need to search the entire url, or search like [email protected] for your instance to initially discover them. After that they should show up as normal

You don’t have to do anything on your end. On the lemmy web ui the instance is automatically shown if it’s not coming from the same instance you’re on

I’ve been using i3. Nothing super advanced but the config is easy and being able to reload in place is nice

This is possible? Does it work with Lemmy instances or only other fediverse apps? Unfortunately web searches come up almost exclusively with moving from reddit to lemmy when looking for account migration stuff :/

It’s super cool. Who made it?

Most of the content is available on Youtube, but many creators have some extra videos and/or release videos days to a week earlier on Nebula. The majority of the content is video essay style videos and educational stuff, if that isn’t your speed it might not be for you.

The app is easy to use and allows for downloading videos for offline playback. It also doesn’t have any pre/mid roll ads, and many creators don’t include baked in sponsor spots either.

The biggest drawback in my opinion is that they don’t support comments.

I’ve been really happy with it, see if you can get the nebula/curiosity stream bundle advertised by lots of different creators. For something like $20/yr it’s great value and also helps provide a bit of less variable income for the creators that use it!
