China tech firm claimed it could hack Foreign Office

But can they actually?

Part of me wants to despair at this. I feel like our government is just totally inept and everything is just bad news. There was even a report in the Times this week that Russian hakers are going to take the NHS down - and given the Horizon scandal where its proven we've repeatedly gone with the lowest bidder, it wouldn't surprise me.

However, I like to think there is someone in charge of all this who properly has their shit together and is smirking at this thinking 'come and have a go if you think your hard enough'

I once did some training at a highly sensitive UK site (mandatory for the clearance I needed) and during the course we were told in no uncertain terms China was relentless in their spying and attack attempts. This was around 15 years ago.

Ah yes, it's in the 30s. That sounds.... lovely? too warm?

Yep. I lived in the middle East and SE Asia combined for around 12 years, and while occasionally it was too much, in general I loved the heat and rarely said "its too hot", I moved back to the UK 3 years ago, in June. Hated it, was cold all the time. Now when it's more than 25c / 77F on a calm and clear day I'm boiling and can't sleep at night (barely anyone in the UK has ac at home).

First Friday of the year - and first weekend: what have you got going on?

It was supposed to be date night tonight (me cooking) but the missus is feeling poorly so it's postponed. There is a gathering at the pub tonight so I might sneak along, but we have an early start tomorrow as we're visiting my grandmother in North Wales....so might be better off flaking out on the sofa.

I'm still cooking. Fresh linguini, mussles, king prawns and squid to be washed down with a chilled Pouilly-Fumé. 👌

So... do anything good at the weekend then?

Nice pics, museum good shout with all this rain. My Saturday was mostly spent looking out the window wishing the non stop rain would bugger off, I did get a trip in to the builders merchants and got some timber, and as yesterday was nice and dry I actually managed to get on with my little project - fitting solar panels.

Lol. Correct. Mike others have said I might occasionally go there looking for information, and I miss a few subs but yeah, scrolling NSFW is so much more satisfying there than it is here - 1. Loads of autoplaying gifs / videos and 2. Seemly not so much non conventional porn there as here. Too many cocks, trans, fatties, furries and hentai here!
