Where to begin?

Hi, so I've ended up bagging myself a big supermicro server. I'm wanting to try out a little bit of everything with it, but one thing I really want is to be able to have services that haven't been used for a bit to stop or sleep. And then to wake up again or start up on request, rather than me having manually stop and start services. Is that a thing?

I know of portainer and whatnot, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on this.

I'm planning on putting debian on it i think (unless someone can convince something else is better suited - i usually use arch on my personal devices btw 馃槣)

Also i know some basics on raid but I've only ever messed with raid0 with usb drives on a pi. I have 8 bays but 2 are currently vacant. What is the process of just adding an extra drive to a raid, or replacing one that already exists?

VSIX Install - Linux Bash script for downloading and installing Marketplace extensions

I made this because I started using Codium but wanted to use an extension that didn't have an OpenVSX equivalent and found out MS removed the VSIX download buttons on the marketplace site.

This should also work for Code-OSS and the MS VS Code. You can also just use it to only download the VSIX files so you can keep them locally for future use or take them to another computer that does not have internet connection for whatever reason to install there.

It will also check for dependencies and download them if you don't already have them installed.

At the moment it only downloads the latest versions of an extension.

Sharing because I imagine I'm not the only one with this issue.

I'm raising money for Millington's Magical Barn Animal Sanctuary by skating 100km through the month of August

I did a similar charity skate challenge last year with a goal of 50km with me finishing at 80km. This year my overtime goal is 150km if I get enough good weather to push myself beyond the 100km.

Millington's Magical Barn are a lovely vegan ran animal sanctuary that currently look after around 90 animals that were victims of neglect, abuse or were headed towards slaughter. At Millington's they wil be looked after for the lenght of their long natural life. They even look after a few disabled animals too.

Please donate if you believe in this cause, as well as motivating me to push myself further fitness wise!

What are people's favourite pre-WOW MMOs that are still worth playing today?

I long for the days of yore, but I never really got into MMOs until WOW and I've always been jealous heating the stories of people playing MMOs prior.

At some point in the future I'm going to be making an XP era PC build where I plan to play some older games from my childhood as well and any MMOs from that era that I missed out on

Also going to try and get properly into FFXI at some point too but I'm wanting to hear other suggestions too.

I've tried everquest but the way they center the character in the 3rd person view starts to mess with my motion sickness a bit feeling like I have to look at the ground a lot more than I'd normally prefer.
