Did the Mossad withhold intelligence about the 1983 Beirut Marine bombing, as claimed in Victor Ostrovsky's By Way of Deception?

Could you explain the backstory behind Victor Ostrovsky's book By Way of Deception, & his claim that the Mossad withheld specific intelligence regarding the 1983 suicide bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut?

For Zionists who support a strong U.S.-Israel alliance, how do you address concerns about the Lavon Affair (Operation Susannah), a controversial Israeli covert operation in Egypt in 1954?

If Israeli military intelligence has a history of planting bombs in Egyptian, American, and British civilian locations and then attempting to blame the attacks on groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, Egyptian communists, “unspecified malcontents,” or “local nationalists” in order to create enough instability to influence British policy in Egypt, doesn’t that raise questions about whether the Israeli government is trustworthy? Could this have been a repeated tactic, as some people argue was the case with the USS Liberty incident as well? In other words, does the Israeli military use covert operations and other underhanded tactics to draw larger powers into its regional conflicts?
