This never ending animosity is the sadest thing in my lifetime

I am soon 53, and this never ending hate between so many people over these last few years is the sadest thing to happen in my lifetime. While I have always thought that the EU should streamline more, and I also support talking about issues that need to be solved, what is happening now is something else. I support Trump when he says that Europe must take more care of its own defense, that is fair. What do not support is an environment in which there is so much animosity that one no longer can say anything, however moderate, out of fear of being mowed down in now man's land.

My suggestion for US healthcare

Now that health care has become such a hot potato in the US, why dont these AI people do something about it? My suggestion is that you create a separate partition on your PC in which you run offline a ada or medgemmi LML on a minimal distro, which feeds directly off your medical records stored encrypted on your PC. If you combine this with a price aggregator, and feed into your medical lml both your personalized health data, but also available off the counter tests and medication, with price comparison, you would have something where there is now nothing. And you can expand on it by adding video consultations with doctors in a low cost country, that is a very cheap remote specialist. If that remote GP then could prescribe to you some medication. that would be great. But here we enter into more difficult terrain. Still, this an attempt to create something free for those with no help at all. It is just a common interface for free options that now exist. But they are worth mentioning because you do actually get both cheap blood work, remedies based on science and a real specialist, but remote.

In addition, there are many commercial phone apps which utilize the sensors on your phone. Here you could make one app that covers what is possible in stead of one for each, and you can also update phones and pc with optional devices to enhance diagnostics, for instance for those with specific needs. But simply automating the flow of these diagnostic data into your PC health journal will make the AI diet recommendations or other recommendations more accurate. If you then go berserk, and add to your offline encrypted records the result of DNA profiles in terms of health...) And this I envision to be completely offline in a separate encrypted partition, which means that price comparison engines would be a simple browser add on in your regular browser, but you could download searches and transfer these in your offline encrypted partition via usb, after reboot. Also the browser add on would offer zipped or rared packages of searches containing price data, which you then downloaded and integrated into your offline distro, and only there would you search out the product or service you need, free from those who might see your searches by normal snooping via the net. You would be offline.

I would also like to add that in an age when there is exponential difference between computing power in data centers and your tiny PC, new laws concerning the protection of health data must be passed because of the cryptography issue. Meaning that those who steal your records, must be prevented from using it for anything. So you may steal it, but if it becomes known you will achieve nothing, only go to prison. So you get no benefits of any kind, concerning any issue at all by stealing medical data. If the state does not do this, there will be huge issues. And i must remind you that everyone can become ill, even those who are powerful or who think they are protected. Then they too must visit a doctor. So it not just for those of us who do not matter, but also for the tech barons themselves.

I must add that I am not a doctor, i dont even have any course in science above high school. My background is in digital humanities. So my knowledge proteins and carbohydrates is limited what I have been able to google. And until quite recently, I trusted the system in place here in Europe. But I then read about what is happening in the uS.

Inspector Hanaud and The Ginger King

Hercule Poirot was Agatha Christie’s first creation. Poirot appeared in 1920, but there were several similar characters that preceded him. A. E. W. Mason’s Inspector Gabriel Hanaud from 1910 was one of these. Inspector Hanaud resembles Poirot in many ways, but is a more comical French sleuth. He appeared in several novels and short stories.

In this story, Hanaud is called in to assist in the investigation of a possible insurance fraud. I made a while back. It is quite light-hearted, more so than Agatha Christie. So rather harmless, and there is a little humor. The character Hanaud is always trying to be funny. But he is similar to Poirot in many ways.

I forgot links. Sorry: https://www.audible.co.uk/pd/Inspector-Hanaud-and-The-Ginger-King-Audiobook/B0HHDG5SND?qid=1790108595

Edit: I am surprised by so many negative votes for a relatively harmless production?

I know that the North Koreans made asort of martial arts movie about him which is on youtube. But are there other movie versions, more recently? In south Korea? What view do South Koreans have on this character?

Great old European B-movies

Europe has a long tradition for very influential B-movies, which is not always recognized. For instance, in Le Grand Restaurant, Luis de Funes has a scene about making a dish which probably inspired John Cleese's Hitler march in Fawlty Towers a few years later. Louis de Funes and Gerard Oury created many comedy classics. Belmondo was a B-movie icon. Then there are Hammer movies in the UK and Ealing comedies. In 1958 the peplum tradition started in Italy, then a decade later the spaghetti western, then the Europspy and Giallo tradition. Also they had Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, action comedy icons. In France they have quite a few top thrillers starring Yves Montand or Lino Ventura. !

What is your favorite European b-movie.

Great horror gems from europe

In Europe, we have Hammer films as well as Italian Giallo films. In the silent era, the German tradition of expressionist cinema with Murnau and Lang produced several classics, as did the swedes (Victor Sjøstrøm) and the danish (Benjamin Christensen). Later, some of these were remade, for instance Klaus Kinski played Nosferatu once (he hardly needed makeup).

So, in this thread I thought you might post your recommendations among these old European B-movies.

Old gay fiction

Some of the oldest gay fiction you can find are the greek Sappho and teh Roman poet, Catullus. Giovanni Boccaccio in the middle ages had this great ittle gay comedy called The Tale of Pietro di Vinciolo. He is actually quite funny, and he is almost modern in his view of sex. And you should also know that in the middles ages, there were judges in islamic Turkey that collected gay art and published them. They dont have that tradition of repression you find elsewhere in the islamic world. Of course these days modern politics have taken over. But in Turkish history there are several prominent gay writers.
