Democrats and Republicans aren't actually against each other, they pretend to be two different parties as it is an effective psy-op to keep the populace believing in a Reformist path to change, so we do not pursue a Revolutionary path instead. In Capitalist countries authority is used to oppress the masses and protect exploitation, in Socialist countries it is used to oppress the Capitalists (who don't just disappear the second the revolution succeeds), the CIA invented "Authoritarian" as a way of demonizing Socialist countries by drawing attention to how it suppresses the class enemy of the working class rather then who is suppressed and for who's benefit. A State is needed for as long as class antagonism exists, which itself will exist as long as class itself exists, which itself will exist so long as the material conditions for classes exist, which will exist until global communism is achieved. Just to be clear, Cops being bad is not an inherent property of them in and of itself, but rather Cops serve the State, and in a Capitalist country, the State serves Capital, and so the Cops also serve Capital, but in a Socialist country, such as China, the Cops are completely different as the State actually serves the interest of the overall masses, and so the Cops also by extension.

The US is the only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons on a populace, they were cities, full of civilians, and the US did it twice! The US is literally the one single country in the whole world that, more than anyone else, should not have nuclear weapons, and yet it wants us to think that it should be allowed to act as the arbiter (is that the right word?) of who is and isn't allowed to have nukes. The whole rest of the world basically only even needs nukes in the first place specifically to protect itself against the US (and it's vassal states that it sometimes considers using nuclear weapons through as a proxy).

It's a strategy they use, actually describing Socialism (or Communism) risks sounding appealing instead of scary, and they want the populace to know only Capitalism as an option, so they just endlessly describe different characteristics of Capitalism while dressing them up with different coats, the more palatable ones are called Capitalism while the worse ones are called Socialism or even Communism. So even when people are totally sick of Capitalism and are willing to consider something new, if all they know about Socialism and Communism is from Capitalist sources, they end up running back into their bloody cage thinking they are escaping it. You see this play out not just in the western world's (Global North) "news", but also in movies out of hollywood, and games made in these Capitalist countries. My impression of Anarchists is one who is unable to separate the use of power (authority) from the misuse of it under Capitalism to oppress and exploit the masses as the result of trauma from experiencing this oppression (including indirectly by seeing it used on others while having empathy) and so making it psychologically difficult to confront this error in understanding the nature of power and it's necessity to suppress the Capitalists once the Revolution succeeds so that a counter revolution doesn't just take it all away again. In order to effectively break the system you need organized Revolution, and for that it must be supported by the masses, and for mass support it must help people, meaning the Revolution must be building something like a state within itself to support it's own Revolution, so when it is big enough, when it finally has overthrown the Capitalists, it will already be prepared to take over as a governing body. The only chaos then is in the Revolution itself, but a small moment of bloody violence in plane sight is nothing compared to the massive death, destruction, torture and despair, that the system does constantly out of sight, hidden away (as much as it even can hide it), that the small by comparison but more in sight and quicker violence of a Revolution which will finally end it.

If you seriously support having a Revolution in the US then reading Theory is not optional, there are errors upon errors upon errors that people inevitably fall into if they do not have a correct understanding of the world, it's history, and how society, economy, the state, Capitalism and so on actually work, which kills a Revolution and result in horrible failure. Cowbee (I think, or maybe it was yogthot or how ever the name is spelt) has a good beginners reading list you can work through, at the least you should read works by Marx, Engels, and Lenin at a minimum.
