The simple reality of the situation is it was a business decision by Sony. They saw this groundswell of potential players to add to their huge database of people to market to, and said "we're getting those email addresses". If I had to venture a guess, the higher-ups at Arrowhead are probably livid and pushed back. They get zero out of this change and they have to deal with the fallout. It's likely part of the publishing agreement.

That said Sony knew this would happen, if probably not to this degree. Maybe they post a solemn jpeg talking about how they "fell short of expectations". Being Sony it's likely that they just ignore the backlash. Their projections say they'll make more money with all that new data than they'll lose on some half-hearted boycott. Gamers are notoriously horrid at sticking to that shit. And you know what? That next battle pass is gonna sell just fine even if the vocal folks don't buy it.

Yes but I stopped using it when I was a young'n. Turns out that the click CLICK of opening a soda or beer can registered as 2 claps. That stopped being amusing pretty quick.

Saw them in concert last year and they DO NOT fuck around. Played just about every song they've ever written front to back without stopping for any banter or bullshit.

Why? Done correctly and with supervision solid engine model rockets are very safe and awesome. You don't even have to light anything, ignition is electric and controlled from a safe distance. Think burn, not boom.

I managed to quit smoking by vaping about 6 years ago. For the most part a cigarette is a cigarette, but I was buying juice so I could control the level of nicotine. Started at 12, then to 6, 3 and finally 1.5 strength. Took about a year.

When I was at 1.5 I had a real bad chest cold so I put it down, never picked it back up. Vaping really helped me because I could quit without withdrawal of any kind. I worry about the prefilled convenience store pods because it doesn't seem like you get that level of control to ween yourself off the nicotine.
