Trametes versicolor - according to DNA
Also would love ideas on the granules on the cap. Not snot, not bugs, but I vaguely remember seeing something that it could have been...maybe another fungus? I should have written it down lmao

Sort of similar to the white coating on a blueberry where touching it leaves a mark. I don't think I've seen this on any other Russula or other mushroom I've come across and was wondering if there is a term for this. If I was smarter I'd have put it under the scope to take a look at the very surface. I don't think it was just dust from the road because this was found well into the woods and the roads weren't particularly dusty that day.
Calicium sp. growing on Chrysothix sp.
Took this with a handheld digital microscope so it's not a great photo. Each stalk was about 1-3mm tall.
Cute little community of lichens
I see Vulpicida canadensis, Cladonia sp., Parmeliopsis sp., not sure what that sort of brown patch could be.
My grow room this time last year
I usually don't grow in the summer due to the heat and I'm struggling to get my ass in gear for this winter. I usually have about 4 varieties I grow, blue oysters, pinks, lion's mane and pioppinos.
Vulpicida canadensis and friends on pine branch
Love to look at branches with lots of lichens on them because there's always more variety than you think. I'm not great with ID but I see the Vulpicida, Parmelia, Bryoria, Tuckermanopsis (or something that looks like it), Usnea, possibly 3 species of Lecanora or something similar. For the Lecanora-like ones I see white-rimmed apothecia on the branch running down my palm, also seeing just black apothecia down the branch from that. Harder to see, but there is a group of brown-orange apothecia between the 2 large Vulpicida colonies. Did I miss anything?
Family picnic in the podhouse

Started this isopod enclosure about 8-9 months ago, I've just got sandstones in there (and springtails, of course).

Sad to see my season coming to an end but oysterlings are a nice send off!
Found some nice sized olive oysterlings (Sarcomyxa serotina) today in my usual spot. One was about 5 inches across, which is pretty big for us. They are a harbinger of winter for my area so I was hoping I didn't see any. They are tasty though and I always do a big group pick with friends and family so that's always a good time.
Aleuria aurantia sending up a big poof of spores after I blow on it
I can't resist doing this every time I find a cup fungus. Titillating. I'd love to eat this species but I have never found it growing anywhere other than on cow dung or right beside it.
If you've never seen this, its not actually the spores being blown off, the blowing triggers something in the mushroom and after half a second it sends up a big plume of spores. I don't actually know about the mechanics of this.
