Bill Gates’ daughter’s company just got caught doing this exact same “cookie stuffing” thing. There is damning evidence, including internal slack chats and emails that have been confirmed, showing that they knew what they were doing. Something like 80% of all of their tens of millions of dollars in revenue was by hijacking people’s purchases with their affiliate code.

I expect nothing will happen to her, of course.

It’s more about protecting companies like Disney, Nintendo, etc, not replacement parts. 3D printing is rife with copyright infringement, and companies like those would absolutely love a way to block their IP from being printed, or to be able to sue those who do it.

Net zero doesn’t mean lowering pollution btw. Net zero means essentially cancelling out any pollution by planting trees, buying carbon credits, etc. It’s possible to be the biggest polluter and also net zero as a company. If that actually helps the planet is another story.

The people who use it to do things, obviously. Just like how cameras aren’t responsible for the photos that are taken with them, photoshop isn’t responsible for the images made with it, and knives aren’t responsible for the things that they cut, AI isn’t responsible for the stuff it outputs - the person controlling it is.

As someone who has been deep into 3d printing for a long time, even selling prints that I bought licenses for, there are a LOT of people who want exactly that.

Yeah unfortunately this is only viable for extremely short flights 100-200 miles as the article says. Batteries are just too heavy and planes needs too much power for anything more.

These would be the perfect private jet for the ultra rich who take a jet to work a few minutes away, or to go shopping, but for commercial flights they’re basically not an option until we have a huge breakthrough in battery tech. We need the mythical “coming next year” for the last 20 years “solid state batteries”.

There are legal frameworks around reporting of data breaches in most countries. They didn’t do this out of the goodness of their hearts.

Usually I’d agree, but the article and Google specifically got in front of this - they only counted people who opened the Gemini app, used the Gemini web interface, or Gemini live. They didn’t count people who simply used a google product that has Gemini in it.

The shield tv is still by far the best Android box in the market. It’s insane how it’s still supported by Nvidia, and still better than anything else out there.

It has nothing to do with AI. Pornographic models for 3d printing have been everywhere in large numbers long before the current AI became a thing.

But as we see with drive assistants, the person in the drivers seat (or the registered owner of the car) is responsible.

You must also be thinking of the older one which was crap. This is the current one which has clicky physical buttons that also can act as a gesture pad, and a mute button.

The current remote has physical buttons that have a track pad over the surface of them. You can completely disable the track pad and gestures and just use it like a plain old remote if you want. The gestures-only remote was replaced years ago, thankfully.

AI does nothing without people telling it what to do, and giving it permission to do it.

That’s why regulations and standards need to be put in place for this emerging technology.

As you said, no one should be trusting meta for anything, especially privacy. That’s why physically covered cameras with foolproof hardware methods showing when the uncovered cameras are recording is needed.
