The only thing that makes me sad is we cannot take the years of knowledge stored in reddit with us. Some of those co tributors who posted valuable contributions are not active anymor or some has quietly passed away irl.

If reddit decides to wall their site, unviewable to non paid subscribers, then it will be like an end of a small scale civilization where poeple go back to basic living,

Yes the easiness of registering to reddit have also contributed to it's dumbing down. People who just follows the trend basically overwhelmed the culture of that site. And i hope the perceived difficulty in using Lemmy acts as an effective barrier to those kind of demographic.

Let them stay there then. We can't force people to join us here. If they choose to believe those kind of brigading comments then they do not have the level of critical thinking to become a meaningful contributor to any site. Those who wanted to move have already moved. Those remaining there are those who chose to ignore the issue, or support reddit.

All my time there, 13 actually. On the latter part of my stay. I found that I really get irritated, and sometimes angry because I see puns and one sentence reply that's so overused but still get thousands of upvotes. And then the well thought of replying getting less than a hundred.

It's all bots commenting and upvoting each other by the end.
