Think back to a boss you really liked working with—what did they do that made a difference for you?

He actually cared about us. Our wellbeing, our professional growth. He didn't get too stressed about things. He was forever asking for help with his phone or Word or Excel, but it was so adorable when he decided he wanted to learn to do a thing and just wanted our watchful eye to give him confidence. He in turn built our confidence. He had our backs. He was the best boss I ever had. When I was given staff to look out for, it's him who I tried to emulate. He passed last month, and the service is next month. I'm looking forward to seeing the old gang again even under sad circumstances.

What stance are you entrenched in today that might be a social issue in the future?

A person's right to assisted suicide.

A few countries have this already, and I think 1 or 2 states may have it decriminalized. But I wish it were less of a taboo subject.

It's ok and even seen as being responsible when we make these decisions for our pets, yet if you want to make the same decision for yourself, you must not be thinking straight.

I have not had and do not have thoughts of suicide, but I have been caregiver to several family members and been witness to the end of life stage.

We should be able to decide for ourselves at a certain point that it's time to go.

Mayor Dies in Police Chase Days After Entire Force Resigns

So this gets weirder... the mayor was being followed by a county deputy, supposedly after the mayor's wife had requested the Sheriff's dept check in on his wellbeing.

Who is the deputy's boss? Sheriff Charles Lemon, who was recently reinstated to his post by the governor following his acquittal of civil rights violation charges. This guy was suspended from 2021 until Aug 2024. And a few weeks ago he lost reelection to the guy who filled in for him all these years.

The town's police force resigned because they're upset the town council was cutting their funding.

Definitely sounds like some kind of harassment or grudge.

Your kid marries a much older person for money; how do you manage?

My cynical view on this situation is the pros are 1) she's fast-tracking home ownership for a generation that generally expects to not own homes, 2) she's securing financial stability during the traditionally least financially stable era of adult life, 3) working as a paid live-in caregiver pays significantly little comparatively and it is damn hard work, 4) she may have plans on marrying for love later. She's still maturing, so having a starter marriage that's lucrative may not be a totally terrible idea.

Honestly at the end of the day, you want her to be happy, right? If she's walked into this with eyes wide open, considered all the cons and still found the arrangement preferable, is it really the end of the world? What would your feelings be if she had chosen some other non traditional relationship?

Am I ruining my liver?

Long time headache adventurer here.

You are basically making a homemade Excedrin (acetaminophen + aspirin + caffeine). Stimulants cause your body to metabolize the pain reliever more quickly.

As for if you're ruining your liver, I can't say, other than you should probably go see you doctor and ask for a blood panel/ liver function test. Even if your liver values are normal, you'll know for sure, and have a baseline to compare future tests against. Plus your doctor may have some thoughts on why you're having a headache everyday.

For me it turned out that while i had acceptable blood pressure, it was high "for me", and a beta blocker took care of the most frequent headaches. But we didn't figure that out until we had ruled out a whole bunch of other things.

It was a frustrating journey to be sure. I wish you luck in yours.
