Tipping

Reply in thread

None of the down votes are for the opinion that the service industry requires skill. They are because tipping culture is anti-consumer, anti-worker, predatory and just generally terrible, yet the comment is advocating for it because apparently it works for them personally.

To those who grew up in religious schools, what's the craziest thing you remember a teacher telling you?

We were taught creationism since an early age. At some point they had to teach evolution to meet government curriculum requirements, but the entire time they kept emphasising "it is just a theory!!, and there is no real evidence for it"

Oh and during the week or two when evolution was taught, suddenly all we were doing in religion class was watching videos that "debunk" evolution, and "prove" creationism

It's Women's Fault

Because it belittles male loneliness. Of course women are not the cause, but it is quite real and affects many men, including those who do not blame women at all.

If the meme ended with "why won't women date me" or something, I think it would be fine.

Intermittent enforcement is a no-no, but petty enforcement is apparently a-ok

Reply in thread

No, it isn't. Exactly this mindset is why we call it "power-tripping" because you think the powers given to you to enforce rules are "fair fucking game" to use as a tool to inflict negativity.

Respond with negativity if you wish, but leave your mod powers out of it. Invoking mod powers to punish someone who hasn't broken the rules is definitionally abuse of power.

What you don't seem to understand is that responding to negativity with negativity is not what makes this PTB. That's a fairly normal response. What makes this PTB is deciding to use your mod powers as a means to inflict negativity on people, inflicting punishment on people not because of the rules, but because you feel like it. You explicitly admitted to doing this: "Now I'm removing it just to spite you".

Donny's "redeeming" quality was that he was full of shit and didn't follow through with most of the stuff he said. This time around stuff is actually happening, and quickly due to Musktongue

how things become science

If it were convincing lies made to deceive, then sure. But in this case the papers were deliberately made to be immediately obviously fake, to anyone actually reading them.

So I guess the question would be "would humans do the same thing if someone literally writes obvious jokes on the internet?"

No matter what arbitrary divisions are in place, be that gender or weight or race or whatever, there will always be people who dominate the field. That doesn't destroy the Olympics as a sport competition, that is the Olympics as a sport competition. Competing in order to find the best of the best, the "freaks of nature" who manage to far surpass the average person.

I used to not understand how people could spend so much money on a single meal at a really fancy restaurant.

But then, on a special occasion my wife convinced me to go to a Michelin star restaurant. It was amazing, honestly the best "food experience" I've ever had, so many crazy flavours, etc etc.

So now, i can understand why someone might go to a very fancy restaurant once or twice a year. I probably still won't, but I do understand why someone would.
