I don't feel rewarded for anything "good" I do

Yup, thts my experience as well. I definitely dont get my dopamine hit from having completed the tasks i set out to do. I find i get my reward and satisfaction from "inspiration" from just being out and about. Like walking to the shops for groceries or on my commute to work. The "inspiration" doesnt usually lead anywhere which is why i put it in quotation marks but the satisfaction i feel in that moment is very real.

So i look for my rewards in those moments and not in achieving the tasks themselves. For me theyre purely coping mechanisms because im not naturally able to conform to the current societal norms. I.e. coping mechanisms for executive dysfunction.

F*** STAB

wow, it never occured to me that it meant file system table. I feel like fstabl would have made more sense then. although it probable would have just become "fuhstabul"

If just a few Instances ends up having the majority of Users - Will Lemmy still be decentralized?

Reply in thread

I agree and this will be true for any social platform. This could also happen to communities within lemmy.world.

I think the main advantage of lemmy (or activity pub in general) is the fact that it's protocol is open source which allows people to spin up their own versions of a platform without end users "necessarily" having to change clients (this obviously implementation specific).

The fact that activity pub is federated is a bonus because it makes the whole "moving to a different community" easier but i see the fact that its open source as a much bigger benefit.
