I decided to move to Linux and my other family went with Macbooks.

If they did not collect any information, they would not have any information to give when they are served a subpoena.

I migrated from Reddit. Most of the communities I followed would be hours or days between posts (if they were not private). Everything left was just not pleasant.

I am still fumbling around here but for the most part it is has better discussions and people seem less rude.

I do not regret leaving at this time. I am sure my infinitesimal presence or lack there of does not bother Reddit, but it made me feel better.

Not much to be done with a work machine, but for personal use, I believe the more people moving away from Windows the better.

I pay for Spotify and do not like the pop ups for podcasts and now audiobooks. I really do not like how they ruined the shuffle button and now the ugly check mark instead of the heart. I am not fond of the ui at all and will start looking at other alternatives. Imo, Spotify has gone downhill. I miss the old time Spotify.

In parallel to our existing consumer products, we have the opportunity to build a better infrastructure for the online advertising industry as a whole. Advertising at large cannot be improved unless the tech it’s built upon prioritizes securing user data. This is precisely why we acquired Anonym. 

Catering to the ad industry is backwards thinking, imo. Securing user data is easy enough if you do not collect it to begin with.

Imo, the fact companies have changed the narrative in favor of advertisers and data collection, proves only profit matters, not the people.

My digital information should have the same privacy my home does.

Authorities need probable cause to obtain a warrant to search my home, photo album, notes, or anything else.

Tech companies are not allowed to come into my private home, look through everything, cataloge all of it, then turn around and sell it.

My electronic devices should also have these same priviledges.

The letter opens with an admission by the collective of police chiefs that they’re unable to do their jobs unless tech companies do half the work for them.

I suppose previous generations of law enforcement that were able to do their jobs before all this does not count.

I can only answer why I dropped Windows. I wasn’t going to pay a company to force AI spyware onto my system, ignore my commands with every update that negated them, or hold my data hostage if I didn’t jump through their endless hoops; all to claim my data as theirs with their end goal being to charge me more money for accessing what is supposed to be mine in the first place!

Samsung is also trying to make its ACR data more valuable for ad targeting, including through a deal signed in December with analytics firm Experian.

This should add to their profits.

If companies can't protect the information they collect now, (a large portion of it gathered without consent), how are they going to protect even more information; and where can I opt out?....smh

being opt out needs to be a right. That implies that having data be harvested for companies to make profits should be the default.

As the years have passed, it has become the acceptable consensus for all of your personal information, thoughts, and opinions, to become freely available to anyone, at anytime, for any reason in order for companies to profit from it.

People keep believing this is normal and companies keep taking more. Unless everyone is willing to stand firm and say enough, I only see it declining further, unfortunately.

Microsoft is unable to track local accounts as thoroughly.

I was finally going to attempt installing Linux Mint only to find out it is not as simple as some say. I know less than nothing about computers and then there are mirrors you have to choose from to download. I have no idea what would be a safe secure mirror.

Then you have to install other software I have no knowledge of to make a bootable drive....I am just not intelligent enough I suppose. I was hoping it was a simple download process.

I am just a tad bit frustrated!

Average users will not have the knowledge or patience for work arounds.

Imo, the larger problem seems to be the majority of users appear to be fine with ads and data collection just to watch a movie or series.

The scarf in its original form was only seen in "Robot" and "The Sontaran Experiment," which was recorded right after "Robot." This particular scarf continued to both stretch and lose stripes due to wear and stunts. A stunt duplicate was also created that was shorter and had subtle color and pattern differences.
