Welcome to [email protected] - What do you selfhost?
I host:
I think that should be it. I left out some less important ones and probably forgot a few that I don't use that often. All these services are spread across 2 servers at home and a small VPS mainly used for the mailserver and Uptime Kuma.

Lemmy: I'm really disliking the random "language_not_allowed" errors
Reply in thread
Yes that's extremely annoying, I want to see communities and posts for all languages, if I can't speak that language I just use Google Translate.

May I ask why you prefer Cloudflare tunnels over regular port forwarding + dynamic DNS? Except if you are behind CGNAT, in my opinion letting Cloudflare read all your data kind of breaks the whole privacy aspect of self hosting.

Self-hosted Password Manager Recommendation?
Reply in thread
There are enough people that don't have the technical knowledge to host their own instance which happily pay Bitwarden to do so. If I host my own software and pay for the servers myself I'm not gonna pay a monthly fee just to be able to use the software. Maybe a one time payment, but definitely no subscription.

What apps do you use in conjunction with Obsidian?
I use FolderSync (connected to Nextcloud via WebDAV) on mobile and the official Nextcloud client on desktop to sync my vault.

Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
But it looks like that only affects users of the Chrome Browser right?

I'm a complete selfhosting beginner. How much is feasible on a single Pi 4B (4 GB RAM)?
I can tell from experience that 10-20 docker containers are absolutely no problem.

Does anyone actually use LibreOffice?
I do everything in LibreOffice that I need to print or send as PDF. Only if something has to be compatible with Office at shool or if someone wants the .docx file I use Office in a VM.

What would be the best VPN to use?

Your speed will be slow when torrenting and if there's no one in the swarm who has set up port forwarding the download will not start (second one is mostly the case for private trackers or really small torrents).

I'm looking for some advice on a landing page, on my root domain, to link all my self-hosted services
I use https://github.com/harsh98trivedi/Links and it looks like this: https://im1random.org/

Which websites are you referring to? I never noticed any problems from the sites I use. Only when I encounter any kind of captcha I always have to manually select images and it will never solve itself like some did in the past. But not sure if thats due to me not being logged in with Google in my main browser or if it's caused by Honeygain.

how do you handle large amount of emails for your Lemmy instance ?
I would use services like SMTP2Go as a relay for your own email server.

Don't you have to pay to use premium features on your own server with their official software? With Vaultwarden you get all premium features unlocked for free on an infinite amount of devices.

Anyone else run so many services locally that sometimes you don't immediately notice your internet is out?
No cause a few seconds after the internet goes out I'm getting spammed with emails from Uptime Kuma that my public websites went down. But I would only experience minor complications with my smart home and entertainment setup and could probably watch movies for around 2 or 3 weeks.

No definitely not because you can think of the VPN just as a tool that you use to connect to your VPN provider, but the real anonymity you get by your provider hiding your identity and forwarding your request anonymously. A self-hosted VPN is rather used for connecting to your house from outside to for example access a private server, if you use it for torrenting at home it will be exactly the same as if you wouldn't use a VPN at all.
