How does everyone feel about Stephen King?

Love seeing all of the recommendations in this thread! My husband has read almost all of them, he's got about 20 books left (most of which are the Dark Tower books) and his top 5 favorites are 11/22/63, Needful Things, Duma Key, Gerald's Game, and Joyland. His 5 least favorites so far are Dreamcatcher, The Eyes of the Dragon, Hearts in Atlantis, Sleeping Beauties, and Insomnia.

I myself have read The Outsider and and The Institute and immensely enjoyed both. I just finished Song of Susannah, book #6 of the Dark Tower series today, and I can't wait to finish it. It really is an incredible story/saga/epic. I plan on reading much more King but I plan on staying away from the darker stuff, as I'm a lot softer/sensitive since I've had a child lol.

Oh hi! My husband just joined your community actually haha, and I plan on heading over there shortly!! I've quit Reddit because of all the fuckery going on over there and I've been absolutely DYING to tell somebody who has read the Dark Tower series: that this was totally an accident because I work night shift but I finished Song of Susannah TODAY JUNE 19TH!!!! I was like no fucking way lol!! So eerie. And my husband also started The Gunslinger today!! Ka! I can't wait to see how this series concludes, it's been such a great ride.

Highly rated book you DNF

I searched the annals of the books subreddit way back when and could quite literally only find one other user besides me who couldn't stand A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. I tried two separate times to read that book and just couldn't do it. I understand the premise of crusty old guy is soft and mushy on the inside, but ffs he is SUCH a massive prick in the beginning I just could never get past it. I also read Anxious People by him and couldn't stand it, so I think maybe this author just isn't for me.

Super noteworthy wise I quit A Tale of Two Cities on like page 4 lol, but that was more because I didn't understand that style of English than anything else.
