Bible rule

Reply in thread

When I was in Sunday School, we were given a strict (Catholic Catechism) definition: Your neighbor is anyone you meet. It doesn't even specify any "human." My mom always brought home that point whenever animal cruelty was discussed.

Of course, my parents who taught me that lesson are still Catholic and yet super proud of my identity. Very chill with my trans spouse. Even marched with me at a local pride event.

Maybe they're the exception but "love thy neighbor" does still have tangible meaning to some folks.

MTG warns GOP ‘will lose the House’ in midterms without addressing cost of living

Reply in thread

I 100% agree. However, and I hate that I'm saying this... She is correct. Cost of living is, beyond all doubt, the #1 issue for the American working class at this present time. We are feeling personally hurt in our pocketbooks, regardless of the subjective level of empathetic psychological harm we are experiencing, which obviously only applies to the ones who care for their fellow man.

Truly, if we want them out, it needs to be made very clear that the GOP is not financially in their personal best interests. Selfishness is a far greater motivator to empathy. I may see a starving child, but if I'm starving too? Shit man, I've never starved before. Who knows?

Can YOU Pass This Test?

I mean, in a vacuum, and given enough time (and provided you remove the heavy bucket afterwards and are in no other gravity well), A. And flat-earthers DO believe this because they somehow accept that every OTHER planet is a sphere... For some reason... Just not our special little disk of god-made mud.

Look man, we're not gonna tell him not to get under Mango Mussolini's leathery skin. Sure, he's a self-centered piece of shit. If we push away anyone without a perfect social rap for the last decade, we'll be severely outnumbered. Fascists first, then the fools that legitimized them. Get your priorities right. We're in crisis mode.

Unfortunately, you missed the point.

The objective of Grimm fables is not to make kids feel good, nor to scare them, really. It's to prepare them for the real world.

Red Riding Hood is not a story about kids being eaten by wolves. It's a story about teaching kids that there are adults in the world who want to harm them. Adults who will make themselves appear non-threatening in order to lure those kids into harm.

What OOP implies here is that by removing elements of children's stories that make us uncomfortable is exactly working against the morals and purpose of those stories.

There is a simple test to determine if you're a tankie, specifically.

  1. Did Tiananmen Square happen? Specifically, was it bloody, consented/orchestrated by the CCP leadership, and resulted in the deaths of unarmed civilian protesters?

  2. Was it wrong that it happened?

If both answers are yes, you're not a tankie. You believe that oppressive regimes are evil regardless of which side of the political spectrum it spawns from.

Bonus points if you think Stalin was anything but benevolent. If you think his methods were "tough, but firm," then you're a tankie.

I mean... Isn't that how humanity rolls? Historically speaking anyways, 99 out of 100 people live and die close to where they were born, while the oddball goes and does a Leif Erikson for his whole life and then we get Iceland. His psychology compels him to do this.

The support Djin told me the enchantment is written on Read-Only-Magic runes. We can't patch it in, and no one knows the rumplestiltskin recovery key, so we can't disable the indestructability enchantment either to disintegrate it. Honestly, it'll take a hard reboot of the material plane, but Xanathar is online right now and I'm told it's pretty important stuff, and he has the reboot button anyway so take it up with him.
