Hummingbird feet

When I was little, my mom dropped me and her friends kid off at a church for arts and crafts, I was 5. We we given toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaner, glue, and some other stuff to make butterflies. I studiously started making mine, I got the wings, the antenna and asked what I was supposed to use for the legs. A full grown ass women look me right in the eye and said "Butterflies don't have legs".

I had seen butterflies land on flowers and latch on with legs, I was so confused how an adult wouldn't know that.

Yep, and given my experience talking with other US citizens about universal healthcare, they'll argue how it's some how a bad thing. It's just a reoccurring thing, people seem to be programmed to hate stuff that'd help them.

Harris selects Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be VP running mate, sources say

Oh hot damn I'm so relieved. I was pretty worried she'd go with Shapiro, and then have a solid argument against her based on his service in the Israeli military. After seeing multiple people on lemmy say "They shouldn't choose Tim Walz.... we want to keep him for our selves", that seemed like a solid endorsement by his constituents. Then Bernie endorsed the guy, so I feel pretty damn good about this selection if it proves to be true.

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot.

I noticed this bullshit a few days ago on my Win 11 desktop! I found if you go check the settings of the start bar, you can hide the copilot icon in the lower right, and then there's a check box to enable the lower right hand corner to work as show desktop again. The functionality can be restore to exactly as it was, but what the hell were they thinking.

Enshitification, plain and simple.

Foxconn's promise to invest $10 billion in Wisconsin is now a distant memory | It's now selling two mostly empty buildings in the state.

I remember arguing with a co-worker about how this deal was pure crap, and even if Foxconn delivered all the jobs they said they would, it would take 40 years to recoup the cost of the tax breaks. Scott Walker screwed over that area of the state HARD, people had land ceased/forced out, huge costly changes to the infrastructure in that area where the factory was supposed to be.

Surprise surprise, the shitty deal turned out to be a shitty deal.

Trump Considers Dropping Out Of ‘FAKE NEWS’ ABC Debate After ‘Biased’ Sen. Tom Cotton Interview

If he does drop out of the debate again, I bet they could get him to recommit by going all Biff Tannen on his ass:

"What's the matter McTrump? Chicken?"

He'll bristle, and say he's no chicken and agree to debate Kamala.

In all seriousness, I was surprised agreed to debate her at all, given that he has nothing to gain. Best cash scenario, he tries the same approach he used with Biden, turning his mouth into a fire hose of lies, and Biden couldn't keep up. With Kamala, she'd just laugh at his lies, and actually refute him with facts, he'd look just awful in comparison.

At this point I doubt he'll actually show up to the debate.

Tesla stops cybertruck deliveries—accelerator pedal may be to blame

I read that Tesla being Tesla reinvented a ton of very standard components that other car manufacturers have been using for decades. So there are a lot of weird issues with Teslas that you wouldn't see in a car from an established car maker. It's Tesla ego which makes them think that they can design component better than a whole industry over decades and decades could.

When the Model S came out, I thought it was the height of cool, but I wouldn't consider buying one of their vehicles now. I think the only reason they even kinda did well was that the rest of the car makers were slow to start making EVs that looked decent and were priced reasonably. Now that the big boys are in the game, Tesla has been dropping the price of some of their models to try and stay competitive. But their cars have always had quality assurance issues, and their support isn't decent at all, since they try to blame customers for things outside of their control.

Harris Taunts Trump After He Backs Out of Debates

Harris was a prosecutor, and a successfully I hear, there was never any chance Trump would risk debating her on live TV. He maybe able to fire hose lies against Biden, but Harris would rip him apart, and the best part is, he knows it. He has nothing to gain from debating her, so he will come up with excuse after excuse to avoid it.

Best nest rule

I recently learned that since pigeons lived on cliffs, they really only need a bit of sticks to keep their eggs in one place. Unlike a bird, which builds its nest in a tree.
