Good luck admins! And if you're fresh from Reddit, welcome!

Reddit has turned into a real fuck of a fuck over the last few weeks. It was a bad omen when they started charging for API access, but that was just a preview. They're in full-on enshittification mode now.

You get shadowbanned for unspecified reasons, without apparently breaking any rules. They do cute shit with vague error messages rather than tell you what's up. Zero actual communication.

They're also busting people for upvoting super mario kart jpegs for some reason, but when they do that they actually tell you.

People Are Losing Loved Ones to AI-Fueled Spiritual Fantasies

The article talks of ChatGPT "inducing" this psychotic/schizoid behavior.

ChatGPT can't do any such thing. It can't change your personality organization. Those people were already there, at risk, masking high enough to get by until they could find their personal Messiahs.

It's very clear to me that LLM training needs to include protections against getting dragged into a paranoid/delusional fantasy world. People who are significantly on that spectrum (as well as borderline personality organization) are routinely left behind in many ways.

This is just another area where society is not designed to properly account for or serve people with "cluster" disorders.

*Permanently Deleted*

I'm a childless man and FUCK that, the office isn't my social scene. I don't care to drive in there just to talk to the same people in person. ZERO point in doing that. We have meetings electronically and that's more than enough.

Half of companies planning to replace customer service with AI are reversing course

I use it almost every day, and most of those days, it says something incorrect. That's okay for my purposes because I can plainly see that it's incorrect. I'm using it as an assistant, and I'm the one who is deciding whether to take its not-always-reliable advice.

I would HARDLY contemplate turning it loose to handle things unsupervised. It just isn't that good, or even close.

These CEOs and others who are trying to replace CSRs are caught up in the hype from Eric Schmidt and others who proclaim "no programmers in 4 months" and similar. Well, he said that about 2 months ago and, yeah, nah. Nah.

If that day comes, it won't be soon, and it'll take many, many small, hard-won advancements. As they say, there is no free lunch in AI.

Reddit's block function now lets strangers control your account

Last night, I kept getting "Empty response from endpoint" on and off. This morning, it was all I got, replying to any thread anywhere, including forums I never visit. Tried the website, "Failed to create comment."

No indication as to why. No message stating I'd been banned or otherwise had my account restricted. No email either. Just cryptic error messages.

I wasn't going around making trouble, either. Just posting stuff that didn't break any rules. I'm careful about that.

You do something they don't like on Twitter, they specifically tell you you're limited and for how long. I guess Reddit thinks communicating with users about changes to their accounts is totally unimportant?

So I deleted my account and came here.
