memmy·Memmy - An iOS client for LemmybyFlaxPicker

Appreciation Post

The development speed of the Memmy app from just a few weeks back has been lightning fast. I absolutely love how far it has come in just a short time and just based on the issues raised on github and responses from the devs, theres a lot more in store to improve the app.

Maybe not everyone is aware, but one of the original developers of one of Memmy’s “competitor” apps Mlem stepped away from the project today due to burn out and feeling like their contributions weren’t good enough compared to more experienced devs that had joined. They were also apparently getting mean dms from users complaining about the app.

Just want to thank the devs here for all the work they are doing and remind them that they don’t owe us shit. If you need to slow down for something in life that happens or just need a break, then do it. Well still be here adding issues and improvement ideas and enjoying the app.

How do I mute or block other instances?

Wanting to hide some of the nsfw instances or communities, but keep the nsfw visible option turned on.

Theres some news videos that are sometimes nsfw and i don’t want to filter those out, but at the same time, I don’t want to see a random nude when im scrolling through all, on the couch with my family around.

Anyone know what to do? Haha

If this is the wrong place to ask, I apologize! Any idea where i should be asking this?

Edit: So you can block communities on a personal level, but not instances. The ability to block instances on a personal level could be a future lemmy feature. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2397

We just surpassed Beehaw in total users putting us at the second most populated instance.

Thoughts? Seems like we are one of the only bigger instances with open sign ups still as well.

Edit: didn’t mean to start any instance tribalism. Like others have said, its not a competition, and its better that users are spread across instances than piling into one. Just think it’s interesting to watch the different instances grow and change and see where people end up congregating.
