then still employed with the Swifton Police Department, contacted 911 to report the fire at his home.

SWIFTON, Ark. (KATV) — A Arkansas police officer is behind bars after allegations of sexual assault.

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) requested the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Arkansas State Police (ASP) to investigate a sexual assault incident that occurred in Swifton.

The case allegedly involves Swifton Police Officer, 31-year-old Benjamin Drake Slagley, and a juvenile victim.

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, officers with the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Slagley at a residence in Swifton.

Slagley was transported to the Cross County Detention Center, where he was booked on second-degree sexual assault, residential burglary, and knowingly furnishing or selling alcohol to a minor.

Separately, on October 13, 2025, ASP CID Agents arrested Slagley on an arson charge.

The arrest followed an investigation into an August 2025 fire at Slagley’s home in Swifton.

JCSO requested ASP CID to investigate after Slagley, then still employed with the Swifton Police Department, contacted 911 to report the fire at his home.

Federal judge blocks law requiring Ten Commandments monument at Arkansas Capitol - Arkansas Times

A federal judge ruled Tuesday Arkansas must remove a Ten Commandments monument from state Capitol grounds, but put her order on hold so officials can appeal the decision.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker blocked the enforcement of the 2015 law requiring the privately-funded monument’s installation, ruling it violates the U.S. Constitution. Baker stayed her order giving the state time to appeal to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A Nursing Home Owner Got a Trump Pardon. The Families of His Patients Got Nothing.

Chose to use the title of the article for the title of the post despite it being somewhat "eh".

Bullet points from the top of the article :

Another Trump Pardon: Nursing home operator Joseph Schwartz was convicted of a $39 million fraud, but President Donald Trump pardoned him just three months into a three-year prison term.

A Troubling Pattern: Schwartz is one of several nursing home operators convicted of crimes who were granted clemency by Trump.

Devastated Families: The families of some patients in Schwartz’s nursing homes have been awarded millions of dollars from lawsuits. But they haven’t been able to collect from him.

Tom Cotton Introduces Bill to Denaturalize Convicted Felons

Washington, DC — Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today introduced legislation to keep Arkansas communities safer by providing grounds to revoke citizenship from any naturalized citizen who commits a felony or supports a terrorist group. The Naturalization Accountability Act will ensure that naturalized citizens who break our nation’s laws are subject to denaturalization criminal proceedings.

Governor’s office: Sarah Huckabee Sanders asked to leave Little Rock restaurant after Friday lunch

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she was asked to leave a Little Rock restaurant after her office claims that the restaurant’s owner said employees felt “threatened and uncomfortable.”

According to a Wednesday night statement from the governor’s office, Sanders, while accompanied by an Arkansas State Police protection detail, was having lunch on Friday at the Little Rock restaurant called The Croissanterie.

“After the group had been seated at two separate tables for about an hour and fifteen minutes and had paid and tipped the restaurant staff, The Croissanterie’s owner approached a member of the Governor’s Executive Protection Detail and asked the Governor to leave because her presence was ‘making employees threatened and uncomfortable’ because of her political views,” the governor’s spokesperson said.

The governor’s spokesperson stated that Sander’s group began to leave the restaurant when a man standing with members of the staff, “yelled ‘it’s time to go’ and made a crude hand gesture in the Governor’s direction.”

The governor also shared a statement:

“Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave. Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant certainly doesn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down with discrimination and hate.”

KARK 4 News has reached out to The Croissanterie for comment, but has not yet heard back.
