The era of cheap streaming is officially over

Reply in thread

Streaming has become cable 2.0.

It was wonderful when everything was on one, maybe two providers. Could watch everything in a very easy, very affordable way.

But everyone saw that, went "I know, I want that money!" and spent billions building their own individual infrastructures so make their own streaming services, and right around we go right back to the absolute worst days of cable and bullshit.

Only thing stopping me from saying fuck it and downloading shit I want to watch, is the fact that I no longer know what the good sites are.. since I havent pirated since the heyday of the bay.

It's not just Adobe. Now Logitech wants me to go to a random website in order to add peripherals to my computer, and I'm met with this when I go to the page they tell me to

Any simple device, that should just work by plugging it into your computer, that instead demands an internet connection between you and the device.. is 100% a device thats designed to steal your information/habits/etc.

because there is no reason to have the expenditure and costs of running a webservice otherwise.

The Problem with Linus Tech Tips: Accuracy, Ethics, & Responsibility

LTT Prioritizes quantity of content over quality of content, knowingly pushes bad data, adds afterthought text updates (in the form of youtube comments) which never cover anything but the most egregious wrongs and sometimes dont even get pinned until called out, major conflicts of interest especially with noctua, ASUS, and Framework, oh.. and the got a prototype GPU block from a company, intentionally and knowingly mounted it to the wrong card, published the bad video and data anyway, then when criticized for that..Linus used the WAN show to attack the company claiming its products are failures that no one should ever buy.

Then, despite saying they would return the prototype several times, ended up selling it at auction instead.. Where it could eventually end up in the hands of a competitor.

and the worst thing about it all, is that its a known problem, that even LTT people in the recent ask LTT employees video all universally agree to the same basic premise of "To many videos, not enough time to polish/check"

its not unprofessional to give the subject of a story that is doing active harm a heads up so they can use their position to pressure you into silence, or try to come up with some last minute hooplah to try to discredit the reporting rather than addressing the core issues in their own company.

Thats like telling a company that is actively dumping toxic waste into a river that you know they are doing it, and you would like comment before they report on scene next week. All you do is give them time to stop the dumping, clean up the obvious signs, and put out an undercutting statement to try and discredit/dismiss the legitimacy of the story.

Disney CEO Bob Iger called Hollywood strikers 'not realistic.' His critics are calling his $27 million pay package unrealistic.

because a lot of powerful people have convinced tens of millions of dumb poor idiots that they'll be rich one day (they wont) and if we hold rich people accountable today, then that same accountability will be used against those dumb poor idiots when they become rich (which they wont ever be), so they fight to protect the rich in the blind dumb fantasy that they'll be there, exploiting other poors one day.

That has got to be the most corrupted take that could be possible taken from that.

You know what serves the public good? Reporting on it, So people can see what the company is doing, So they don't get away with turning off the valve for a couple days.. So they get held accountable for having the valve at all, and the exposure forcing them to spend their money on cleanup and decontamination, while the public outcry gets so bad that government steps in with regulation, and legislation, and oversight.

You know what doesnt serve the public good? Letting the corpo hide its shit and get away with everything, because you think theres some insignificant, nonexistent benefit to letting it do so.

By not letting Linus use his position to try and pressure Steve, by not giving Linus time to get a coverup in place, Linus got outed for lying about the Billet compensation, Further showing the lengths he'll go to, to lie, double down, and shift blame to anything but himself.

Linus is a narcissist.

Narcissists have to prove how wrong everyone else was.

They have to control the narrative.

And when all else fails, they have to make themselves look like the victim, so they get all the positive attention.

Thats why he cant shut up, and always doubles down to make everything worse.

Ugh, Hes trying so hard to double down on his comments, while giving plausible deniability to his doubling down, especially with the Billet block.

And its so fucking stupid to complain that the billet waterblock is expensive and stupid, considering ALL the stupid, expensive, wasteful bullshit hes done on his channel.. Its double stupid that hes still using his basis on using the wrong card that didnt fit it as his argument.
