And it just seemed like any other show.

People are nostalgic the world over, not just in America. So all of the undertones of political issues that you're layering on here isn't inherent to the human feeling of nostalgia. Now The Dukes of Hazzard is problematic for a great many reasons as this post highlights. So it's totally fair to call that out. But it's also totally fair to remember being a kid and liking a show where guys break the rules with fast cars. It doesn't mean that he's a bigot that wants to drag us all back to the '70s.

I say, as long as you're self aware and this feeling in nostalgia doesn't push you in the direction of Trump or Andrew Tate, then go for it.

Are there any genuine benefits to AI?

This sort of feels like someone using a PC for the first time in 1989 and asking what it does that they can't do on a piece of paper with a calculator. They may not have been far off at the time, but they would be missing the point. This is a paradigm shift that allows for a single application to fulfill the role of, eventually, infinite applications. And yes it starts with mundane tasks. You know, the kind people don't want to do themselves.

Worth mentioning: life is a construct created by humans. We decide if it's alive, just like we decided if anything else was alive. There's no definite answer that science can provide on this topic. It can only provide humanity with more facts with which we can contrive a distinction.

I got this from a service technician once. He was like, "So you know code? Say I had my wife's phone, but not the password. How could I get into her Facebook Messenger??"

And I was like, "... So can you fix my drain line, or no?"

The amount of circular conversations I've had with people...
"So you're telling me flipping heads 10 times in a row is likely? Then do it right now!"
"No, I'm just saying it's not less likely than any other combination."
"Oh I get it." [Flips head] "Right so next ones got to be tails"

‘IRL Fakes:’ Where People Pay for AI-Generated Porn of Normal People

Reply in thread

I think this is realistically the only way forward. To delegitimize any kind of nudes that might show up of a person. Which could be good. But I have no doubt that highschools will be flooded with bullies sending porn around of innocent victims. As much as we delegitimize it as a society, it'll still have an effect. Like social media, though it's normal for anyone to reach you at any time, It still makes cyber bullying more hurtful.
