What are YOUR niche hobbies?

Lately it's been collecting Indie Perfumes. They are much more adventurous and complex than most mainstream scents. It's really fun to pair scents with experiences or moods. I've roped my husband into it and it's like a puzzle game to find scents for him as well.

Indies of the Day (7/5/23)

Today I'm wearing my custom blend from Frankly Try This. It's a smoked sandalwood and strawberry blend, with a bit of vanilla. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and the customization process couldn't have been easier. If you're ever in the market for a custom blend, I definitely recommend this shop.

Today is BPAL Strawberry Buttercream Sufganiyot (notes: Deep-fried dough dusted with powdered sugar and filled with strawberry buttercream). This is almost a guilty pleasure scent. It's sweet and doughy and makes me happy. It's a fun treat to wear, it's not sophisticated or complex. It's just a nice straightforward sweet scent.

Continued testing of my Osmofolia order in prep for my larger review post in a few days! Today is Olfactorium, which was included as one of my free samples. I'm slightly disappointed in this one, only in that I wish it was stronger. It's a really nice creamy coffee with a bit of sweetness. I get the parchment and peppercorn when wet, but it fades really quickly. I have to really put my nose to my wrists to pick this scent up after a couple hours of wear. But today is a stinky warm science day. So I might have sweat some of it off in my PPE. I'll probably post my reviews tomorrow after my final wear test.

Your favorite brands/makers/houses?

My favorite perfume house (and the one that started my indie obsession) is BPAL. I started with a couple bottles from the yule 2020 collection, and it held there for couple a years. I rediscovered by bottles and love for perfume earlier this year. My collection has exploded, and I've been branching out into other shops. But BPAL remains dominant in my collection.

For skincare/bath and body, I've been really enjoying Fae Fragrance. I just got an order with some of the heavy hand cream and some lip balm. They are so nice! The prices are fabulous and so far the quality is great. I have terribly dry hands from the work I do, and living in nitrile gloves. The cream is so light and a tiny bit goes a long way.

And not quite indie, more boutique but I've been getting back into painting my nails to practice some more self care, and have been really enjoying my Mooncat polishes. I've hoping to check out the July PPU and explore some indie polish!

I saw sooo many rave reviews of Frigg, I had to scoop it up before the collection came down. I ordered Frigg, Holy Terror, and several from the new Nightripping Fairies collection! I went with Cobweb, Moth, and Puck. As well a freebie bottle of Four Days. Super excited! It seems like a great summer collection.

Welcome! And Introductions

I am fairly new to Indie products myself, my obsession has developed quickly over the past few months. Fragrance is definitely my biggest one, but I've been exploring nail lacquer as well! Currently, my favorite perfume house is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. I've also tried SugarMilk Co, Poesie, Nui Cobalt, and Stereoplasm. I currently have orders on the way from Arcana Wildcraft, Solstice Scents, and Osmofolia. Beyond excited to try them all!
