It Took 23 Days for Lemmy Posts to Double from 1 Million to 2 Million

The first one is towards the very last days of the free Reddit API calls so the mass exodus began, the second is probably around the time all the apps were getting finalized for their beta versions of Lemmy - like sync.

A slimeball for having an optional charge for a product they have made and have input their own time and skills into?

so why should I pay for it?
Did someone say you had to? Or that you even have to use the app?

No one is calling you a cheapskate.
Dude read the comment I was replying to...
He was definitely talking about people using the app and complaining that they can't have it all for free. You're not one of those people.

The other choice is free though. You don't have to pay.

Fair enough - I thought you were speaking from your own point of view because you said
I'm literally not using the app and it's not my responsibility to support the creator lol. I'm literally just saying I'm not a cheapskate because I'm not using your paid alternative.
There are lots of people out there that use sync, have always been unhappy with certain things and want certain things and aren't happy to pay for the app - in the reddit days at least. I'm sure they will be here for the lemmy app too. It's those people I took the comment to be directed at.

It's so nice to see them all growing, but this is just the truth, sorry.

What is the meme? Also, what is FOSS?
Edit - I'm guessing it's free open source software orsomething like that, and the meme is that sync is not open source!

Sure, but the comment you were replying to was talking about people using the free version of sync. They didn't say people are cheapskates because they don't want to pay for an app they don't use.

You said you're not using the app. I'm not defending sync, just clarifying. You're taking it personally but it wasn't actually directed at you at all.
