It constantly annoys me that it doesn't present a change log for system updates. It's just like here you go, install this, maybe this one has security updates, you'll never know. Doesn't even tell you what version it is installing.

Nancy Pelosi: Some Republicans secretly want Dems to win to end Trump cult
Reply in thread
I doubt MAGA will care about his kids too much after Donald is gone. Donald is unique in his presentation and his kids don't have that same style. They will only be relevant if Trump wins and can put them into power before he dies. I can see Don Jr still being around as a talking head or candidate, but I doubt he'll ever be viable.

Apparently, Google's new AI-based search is quite honest.

It wasn't moved, the opening and closing sentences had don't be evil, they removed the preface paragraph at the top, but left they closing sentence.
“Preface Don’t be evil.” Googlers generally apply those words to how we serve our users. But “Don’t be evil” is much more than that. Yes, it’s about providing our users unbiased access to information, focusing on their needs and giving them the best products and services that we can. But it’s also about doing the right thing more generally – following the law, acting honorably, and treating co-workers with courtesy and respect. The Google Code of Conduct is one of the ways we put “Don’t be evil” into practice.”
Closing sentence:
And remember… don’t be evil, and if you see something that you think isn’t right – speak up!
The closing sentence that remains doesn't carry much weight without the preface.

It's exhausting...
This post attacks Democrats for not fighting back and makes voting feel hopeless or inadequate. The reality is you aren't elevating someone who is fighting back. Don't waste effort demoralizing voters, instead point at a message, person or action that you consider fighting back and push it, be the change you want to see. Otherwise this just amounts to voter suppression because every person that sees this and doesn't vote in November because they feel it is pointless is one less vote the fascists need to take power. The donor class, the media aren't going to do it for you because they are the ones that elevate Democrats that don't fight back.

The federal courts are full of judges who could retire but won’t. There is little to be done about it.

Trump did a big batch because the Senate stopped doing them under Obama, creating a backlog for Trump to fill.

Does Firefox track addon installs? Currently shows 6,923,048 Users on the UBlock addon page, I wonder how they get that number and how often it updates.

"Chilling moment": Liz Cheney says she secretly listened to phone call revealing Trump's Jan. 6 plot

I don't remember her being actively and strongly against Trump prior to Jan 6th. Wasn't she number 3 in the house leadership before Jan 6th? Her stance that Trump attempted a coup is what lost her seat.

Target to lower prices on thousands of basic items as inflation sends customers scrounging for deals
Reply in thread
COVID disrupted production, or more so many companies expected decreased demand so they adjusted production down but work from home actually caused an excess demand and the market couldn't adjust. That was true for some goods, not all. Companies noticed that despite the higher prices on disrupted goods, demand didn't drop, so they used inflation as an excuse to raise prices across the board.

Trump takes sexist Harris attacks to ‘whole other level’ on Truth Social
Reply in thread
Trump brought it up last November in Iowa.
He was with four hookers. You think that was good that night? To go up and tell my wife ‘It is not true, darling. I love you very much. It’s not true!’ Actually, that one she didn’t believe because she said ‘He’s a germaphobe, he’s not into that. He is not into golden showers, as they say, they call it. He’s not.’
I don’t like that idea. I thought that would be a big problem. I was going to have a rough night. But that one, she was very good on. She said ‘You’re okay on that one.'”
