The problem is being actively fixed. Better than leaving legacy law on the books

Functionally non-deterministic if we compare the same input with outputs over a short enough period.
Deterministic if you have infinite time to run the gamut of model weights against temperature/creativity/programmed randomness, but even then maybe not if floating point math is taken into account. I don’t know where the current thought is on extreme precision being deterministic or not given cloud environments, local operating and environmental factors, variance in manufacturing, and the like.

I’d argue repeatability is impossible to guarantee. Any cloud based computing with floating point math is subject to variance. Bare metal local LLM computing can be relatively stable, but still suffers from precision error from your GPU.

I think we’re on the same page with this, but agree to disagree on functional determinism being a semantic argument in the context of this thread.

Israel declares siege of Gaza as Hamas threatens to start killing hostages
No electricity, no food, no water…
If everyday people have the choice of sitting and starving or doing something about it, I doubt many would go quietly into the night.
Israel will create the next generation of extremists if they do not kill every single person in Gaza. We’ve seen this in every modern Middle East conflict in the past 40 or so years.

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.
Windows might not be the ideal privacy solution, but it’s often not something that people can reasonably change.
It takes work to relearn an operating system. People’s work applications may not function outside of windows. Virtualization and emulation are not perfect.

$6.2B in profit wasn't enough: Nvidia hikes GeForce Now prices for Canada and Europe
Reply in thread
Nono, they raise prices with parity such that they’re still technically minimally cheaper.
That being said, I don’t think AMD and Intel have similar game streaming services. It’s pretty much GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud streaming as the big dogs.

Nebraska governor signs executive order defining men as "bigger, stronger and faster"
I wonder if you can legally change genders with this. If you're a woman who's bigger, stronger, and faster than the average male in Nebraska, then you satisfy this biological condition set forth in law.

Sacramento pays $1.75m settlement to family after two cops "took control" of elderly woman's assets and bought her a one-way ticket to the Philippines
This is uncommonly evil.
Not “I shot somebody when things got tough.”
Oh no, it’s “I’ll clean this elderly woman out by having her move in with me, taking trips to lawyers to draft a will, have banks drill the locks of her safety deposit box, finding doctors to declare her well, and then shipping her off to another country.”
This was a long con and absolutely despicable.

Israel bombs Iran's embassy in Syria, kills commanders says Iran

Yes. This is generally agreed upon as being a terminal escalation.
Attacking diplomatic missions very quickly turns into no diplomacy between the two countries. This doesn’t leave many options other than military actions on the table.

Setting that child up for failure. An actual pull themselves up by the bootstraps situation for them to have a chance at deciding if they want to be a part of society or live the life their parents forced upon them.
