Thanks for letting me know about this! I'll definitely keep an eye on this project. I'd love to see more federated alternatives pop up for small businesses. A federated marketplace of sorts would be awesome too. If you catch wind of any federated marketplace projects popping up, feel free to send it my way.

Pixelfed might work since it's more image sharing. It's definitely the most developed, though, I feel like it's more of an Instagram alternative than a Pinterest alternative.

I am planning to get a dedicated audio player at some point this year. An modded iPod classic 5th or 6th gen with Rockbox. It's offline, and you get so much more flexibility once you mod it, you can't really go wrong. It's a bit of an upfront cost though but a worthy investment.

The android app I use for music is Musicolet. It's offline and has a lot of really nice customization options. Also free.

I don't think so, personally. They can change their outward appearance but they can't change biology, even if the outward appearance changes. If you guys ever broke up and you found yourself attracted to men, then sure you'd probably at least be bisexual. But just because she decides to become trans does not inherently make you gay if you are still attracted to them. You guys are bonded. That doesn't just go away because she decided to become a he.

Haha it definitely isn't my favorite platform in the world but for business owners, it's generally looked at more as a visual search engine rather than a social media platform. When people go to Pinterest, they often do it with the intention of either wanting to learn something or wanting to buy something. A lot of people use Pinterest to get inspiration for things, which from a business standpoint, is the perfect opportunity to promote products they're searching for.

I design and sell digital products. Planners, journals, things of that nature. 😊 I also make a lot of handmade things.

Haha yeah it's definitely not perfect. I think the ones who reap the most benefits from Pinterest are bloggers, who promote their products in their blog posts. Another thing is that I think about 80%ish of their traffic comes from Google. If there was some kind of Federated alternative, ideally, Google wouldn't be involved in being responsible for the success of it. I'd love to see someone try to make something better than Pinterest though. More federation options for small business would be amazing so we have a place to survive outside of big tech. Flohmarkt is looking to be a good solution to that though! Just gotta get some servers up in Canada 😄

Canada is not going to be any better. We're about to become like the UK here soon in terms of privacy if the government has their way.
