Police believe NFL player ‘Air McNair’ was murdered by his girlfriend. A new doc questions that narrative
The paper really needs to fact check that second paragraph. The Titans didn’t play the Bills in the 2000 Super Bowl 😬. The Bills and the Titans are both members of the AFC.

Is anyone here interested in iOS 18 db1 talk, or is this community kinda dead?
48 hrs in and for me this is by the best beta 1 ever. Outside of the initial SOC warmup everything has been uneventful. iPhone 13 Pro.

Apple Continues To Delay E2EE For RCS Messaging, Leaving Chats Exposed To Third Parties, And Undermining Users’ Privacy Expectations, iOS 26 Beta 3 Fails To Deliver The Promised Protection
The whole green bubble/blue bubble stuff was such a contrived story to begin with. iMessage is only popular in the US and Apple's RCS integration was pushed by the Chinese government who want their carriers to support it.

Statistical data about the U.S. Healthcare system
“The United States leads the world in new medical innovations.”
What national body defines and measures this metric? How does this metric translate across nations? Is there an international body that similarly defines and measures this metric?
Merely creating something without considering its impact is not something that should be considered when trying to make the overall point.

On filing the corners off my MacBooks
Saw this on HN earlier today. I understand the author may have a sensory condition, but the purchase of a form-fitting protective cover to achieve the same goal should have been considered. I can confirm they are an option. I have purchased three (M1 MBP, M3 MBA & M4 MBA) for the purpose of protection but did notice the smoother edges.
Also there are many keyboards, small form factor included, that would obviate the need to modify the computer.

iOS 26 Developer Beta 1

Can confirm this feature is really good. Was so surprised by a song transition that I pressed the headunit's AppleMusic icon to see what happened (was using Maps at the time).

Just installed and surprisingly, I do not hate it. There is room for some iterative changes but it's not bad. Rather legible as well.
Thus far all installed apps are working fine.

Might be the angle, but his ass looks wider than his shoulders. I don’t know of a medical term for such a thing, but he looks rotund for his time.

Is this just standard iOS indexing rebuild after a major update or some aspect of iOS 18 not yet built up?
Will take the jump and contribute later today.

John Deere lays off hundreds of employees, after a $10B profit year

Agreed. I don’t know much about the source but it might just be an indication of the author’s intent, if there is a human author.
There is a much better image choice to be used and it would not take much effort.
Update: Saw the pic, read the article, but didn’t realize the forum until afterwards. Will just move and pretend.

Sounds like there is a motive. Typically I sample the headlines and read a site’s “About Us” page before diving in.
It was early, I saw a familiar face, and started reading. Also this very subgroup is a tad bit too general for my taste. Never again.

This is about my biggest real gripe thus far. And like you said, it relates to my Lock Screen background picture.
Also not really a fan of the keyboard's more rounded off corners.
The CarPlay changes are really good. I have a smaller screen which means no room for widgets on the primary screen but it is still great. There are also in app Map changes I've noticed. It notified me of train tracks and there is some additional detail showing.

I've used the updated CarPlay a few times and I do not see any listing of 'visited places'. In the US so maybe it's not an exposed feature yet.

Is it true that one of the reasons VHS beat Betamax was porn?
Reply in thread
Apologies for not being entirely clear about the recording experience, but to be honest you hinted at the point I was trying to make.
Below you used “time-shifting”. I would argue until DVRs became a thing in the US in the early 2000s, users were not truly able to gain any time with VHS or Betamax. This point is important for people too young to know about a world without DVRs or streaming. A VHS recorder could record but it was too difficult for most and problematic for those who knew how to use the scheduled recording features. Yes there were options to record 30 mins extra but there were no commercial skipping functions to speak of.

No Face ID issues thus far, but I can say third party app issues are to be expected. If there is a public beta track for their app there is a chance the developer will address those issues with a beta release. If not, you will have to wait for Apple to refine iOS 26 to the point the dependent behavior is resolved, Apple current released version of Xcode allows iOS 26 fixes, or for the GM release.
At this point I am experiencing some annoying CarPlay iMessage reply inconsistencies while music or a third party podcast app is playing.
