Nazis have borrowed Norse symbology since like the beginning of Nazis. Their most recognizable symbol is also borrowed from other cultures.

Unlike the swastika, Norse symbols aren't so strongly associated with Nazis that they're now completely unacceptable, so some Nazis use them as a way to broadcast their interests while keeping some plausibly deniable "I just think they're neat" shit.

Also the notion that children aren't allowed to do certain things that adults frequently do in front of them somehow magically doesn't apply to curse words.

Kids can't smoke, drink, drive cars, change light bulbs, use the stove and oven... But no one ever says adults aren't allowed to cook in front of the kids because kids might get the wrong idea. They tell the kids not to use the stove and respond appropriately if the kids do anyway.

Fellow millennials, how do you prevent your child from yearning for the mines?

OP doesn't specify, but I read the gripe as it's a branded truck that's basically an advertisement you pay to give to your kid. And it's geared towards kids exactly to expose them at a young age and make a positive association that will pay off when they grow up.

I like UPS more as a company than FedEx or Amazon because it supposedly has a decent union and actually pays their employees. But the toy itself is still an ad, and I personally don't view it any more highly than I view similar Amazon truck toys that pander to children. If it were some generic delivery truck I doubt anyone would even notice.

Millennials know all about this. And the hate-mongers of today will die with nobody to remember them

This misunderstands the motivations of real-life evil people.

Once you accept there is no afterlife, that your legacy means nothing, and that you're a piece of shit who has no desire to contribute to society or help others - only your personal success and self-pleasure while living matter.

Tarquin says it best, though much more humorously, here: https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0763.html

By Rush's personal measure, he absolutely won. So did Kissinger. So did Reagan. Trump and Jones and Rogan are on track.

You don't beat such people with legacy.

They didn't lead to the apathy - they pointed out the existing apathy would cost Dems the election. It's like saying the person who said you need to wear a seatbelt caused the wreck.

You're exactly right about people being excited for Trump and lukewarm on Harris, but that's entirely on the Democrats for picking the platform and strategy that lost to Trump in 2016.

Harris had a notable and surprising lead when they announced Biden was out - then they changed nothing else. People didn't just not like the candidate, they didn't like the policies. They only changed the candidate and thought Trump was a big enough cudgel to bully people into voting even though that demonstrably doesn't work.

ELI5 How did all these MAGA people get voted into congress? What did they promise they would do? and have they done it?

This is also why you vote in the primary of the party with the candidates you like least.

If you view any candidate in party A as better than every candidate in party B, you need to vote in party B's primary so the best candidate for you will make it to the general election. Then even if party A loses the general election you still get the candidate you like most from party B.

This was a key strategy for black people in the south to get the least racist Democrats into office. It's basically ad hoc ranked choice voting and it reduces the power of extremists.
