I mean, we are way lefter than reddit, and given that the bell curve of intelligent responses is located at about the same place, we probably look a lot further left than we are to liberals and right of there. (i.e. stupid responses and extremist responses look pretty similar.)

Ok, here's my perspective. I hate Gen-AI (specifically and solely the generative kind), I think in nearly 100% of its use cases there are more effective and more ethical solutions. Its really sketchy to me for any artist to be using or supporting AI with/in their work. My understanding is that while training the AI does take significant server farm work (on a similar scale to like, storing the data for streaming video), the actual AI model produced is relatively small, and therefore doesn't take that much energy to run. So, good on them for doing environmental work, my hangups will entirely be on the ethical side of their AI usage.

This isn't GHGs, they're talking about like smog and particulate pollution, Sulfur Dioxide is what primarily caused acid rain, CO is toxic. We still won't peak GHG concentrations for a while, as that requires net zero emissions.

I'd heard about this before. I'm reluctant to even call this a climate thing. While its certainly good for the climate if Africa isn't reliant on fossil fuels, the primary thing here is that its an improvement to people's lives, not that it reduces emissions.

Yeah, the main advantage of cars is that they do a lot of things (kinda badly.) We need to do a lot of work to replace cars, and that work definitely doesn't start with ignoring why cars are so prevalent. We need to empower people through other avenues a lot before most people will switch over.
