It’s very clearly an AI image to me. Just look at the road lines. A double solid yellow line on the right side of the road is not something that happens in the USA. The double yellow line would be in the center of the road. And if this was a divided highway with the coyote being in the center median, then the yellow line would be a single solid line.

Hey, I am not trans, just wanna know why the community name is so long lol

I think it’s a reference to r/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu a very old, established subreddit for rage comics memes. Then when the trans meme subreddit became a thing, they copied the style of the name. Then they brought the same name over to Lemmy.

There are other subreddits with the same style name, like r/iiiiiiitttttttttttt for IT related memes.

I could be wrong, I wasn’t there for the formation of the /r/traa subreddit, but that’s my speculation.

Once I had to restore an entire organization from shadow copies because the IT director didn’t believe in off-site backups or using endpoint protection. The whole network got a ransomware that included the backups, but did not include the shadow copies on the main file server.

At least I got to help them build a disaster recovery procedure, and pick out a new EDR.

This isn’t considered verification in the UK from what I can tell. Companies are now implementing AI face scans, ID checks and credit card verification to comply with the UK law. I’m not a lawyer or even British, but it wouldn’t make sense to me that companies would spend money to turn away their UK customers otherwise.

How do I remove a DE from debian?

I think that: sudo apt purge xfce4* sudo apt autoremove

should do it.

I’ll point out that the other answers here are also correct. It depends on how you want to clean it from your system.

“apt remove” will only remove the packages, not the config files
“apt purge” will remove the packages and config files
“apt autoremove” will clean up the orphaned dependencies
“xfce4” will only remove the DE
“xfce4*” will remove the DE and most of the other packages that come with xfce

Proprietary software's inferiorities, such as this control center downgrade, remind me of that one Dhar Mann video where kids enjoy homemade food and insult what the "award winning pastry chef" made.

Way back when, I had a Palm Pixie, which ran WebOS. While it wasn’t FOSS, if you turned on developer mode, you would have full terminal access to the Linux system it was running.

I think HP eventually made it open source and now LG uses it for their TVs. But that phone’s OS was one of the best ones I had seen at the time.

When you list a business on Google Maps, you have to select a category for a business. I’m guessing that “CEO Doxxing” isn’t one of the categories, so whoever listed this probably just chose a random category.

Why does the US tax people based on citizenship?

American living abroad here. I have lived and worked here for 5 years. Not once have I paid taxes to the USA. I have to file my taxes every year, but since my wife and I do not make more than $260,000 combined, we do not have to pay taxes to the US government. There are even more tax credits we get by living in a country with a tax treaty with the USA (foreign tax credit).

Why don’t Americans living abroad renounce their citizenship? Many reasons. First, most Americans living abroad probably have family in the USA. Giving up their citizenship would mean having a more difficult time crossing borders into the USA. They would also be giving up the ability to move back to the US if they wanted to. They would give up their ability to vote in US elections, which may be important to them if they have family there. Additionally, until recently, it cost like $2500 to renounce an American citizenship. I think it now costs like $800. It also takes months to get approval from the state department.

So if you don’t make a whole lot of money, why would you want to give up citizenship? Renouncing your citizenship really only has negatives unless you make a lot of money.

Also, to address why they don’t consider naturalization. Many probably do consider it. But it takes a lot of time, effort and money to become naturalized in most countries. Right now I’ve been here for 5 years and I will only become eligible for naturalization at the end of this year. After applying, it will probably take another year, lots of paperwork and money to become a citizen.
