Let’s be honest: Starfield is just Bethesda’s overpriced mod of No Man’s Sky. You’ve got planets that are mostly empty, endless resource grinding, and a storyline so dry it makes toast jealous. No Man’s Sky at least has color and a weird alien aesthetic. Starfield feels like a sad, gray PowerPoint presentation in space. Yeah, the lighting is nice. Congrats. It’s a boring game with RTX turned on.
I'm a straight man and I'm comfortable in my gender and sexual identity etc I just don't feel the need to do anything stereotypically "masculine". Maybe it's just because I never felt like labels or categories define you or limit you. I just do me and what I enjoy and don't worry too much about societal expectations.
But I read on here a lot of people who do seem to care about this stuff. Saying things like "the man always wants to be the provider". Talking about what it means to be a man in the 21st century, and how masculinity has changed.
I'm not denying these people's experiences, just curious about the difference- why you do feel it's important to asset a masculine role or identity? Or why not? What even is "masculinity"?
Twice in a row now I’ve had to pull my dog in another direction due to people walking their dogs without a leash. Why tf do you feel so confident in your damn dog to not react? In fact I don’t fucking care. It’s a fucking law and it’s inconsiderate of other individuals and their pets. Seriously fuck you. Nobody cares how well trained your dog is or whatever the fuck you’re doing to stroke your damn ego.
"The Last of Us Part II" is not the masterpiece everyone claims it to be. Yeah, I said it. Sure, the graphics are incredible, and Naughty Dog knows how to make you feel things, but emotional manipulation and a well-polished game don’t make up for its glaring narrative flaws.
The story's pacing is all over the place. You're forced into caring about characters that, quite frankly, don’t deserve the screen time they get. The constant switching between Ellie and Abby—look, I get what they were going for, but it just ends up feeling disjointed. Abby's redemption arc? I wasn’t buying it. And let’s not even talk about the massive character assassination of Joel. What they did to him in the first two hours is unforgivable. It’s like the writers were hell-bent on making the player feel guilty for liking him in the first place.
And don’t even get me started on the ending. It’s like the game wanted to punish you for playing. You fight tooth and nail, lose beloved characters, and for what? Ellie ends up alone, broken, and with literally nothing to show for it. It’s not deep—it’s depressing for the sake of being depressing. A bold narrative choice doesn’t automatically mean it’s a good narrative choice.
Look, I’m not saying it’s a bad game. Mechanically, it’s a beast. But the story? That’s where it falls apart. There, I said it. It’s overrated. Fight me.
One of the biggest challenges today is the aging population caused by the low birth rates and the fact that it is now impossible to start a family.
And I think one of the “solutions” is to create a technology that creates humans (e.g. artificial uteruses) but also cares for them until adulthood, which will be more complex.
Imagine, an artificial machine that creates human being X and then a technology that develops him until he is an adult and autonomous.
Another solution is to create mega centers to care for humans with human labor, but this is also difficult and unlikely.
A child is something that needs to be taken care of and it's not easy to create a technology that takes care of them until they're adults.
