I've had some good 16TB drives from there for a good few years and still kicking. They can be a little loud though. You can get 10TB drives for maybe €250.

A Synology 4-bay NAS can be bought second hand from eBay for about €200-€300. They aren't very powerful but might be fine for Immich and pretty easy to use. Many come with some hard drives you can pawn off or get started with using a RAID config that means if one or two die you are fine. If the drives are second hand (not pro refurb) though do not pay more than 30% of retail price because who knows how long they will last.

Photos don't take up that much space. Even 100 000 photos tends to take up less than 500GB. Video is much heavier, so if you're a videographer you may struggle without reencoding.

I grew up in a house that had parental filters turned on at the ISP level. They already exist for both ISPs and mobile carriers. They block VPN websites, but not their endpoints.

Turning them on by default might be a good idea, as most parents don't have a clue how to access their router's menu, but determined children will find their way around them, as I did.

So basically, it sounds to me like we have a country so far gone that genocide seems like the right thing to do, and children are growing up indoctrinated to believe this.

The centrist "keep things as they are and don't genocide" party (which doesn't even advocate for a 2 state solution) is viewed as a fringe left wing group, and are attacked frequently with no protection from the state.

Sounds a lot like Nazi Germany and Hitlers Youth to me. Unlike that, it may have a semblance of democracy, but the voter base is so far gone that it pretty much cannot be saved from the inside.

Well, maybe if he had been deported right after the crime (which wasn't violent, it was a planned robbery). That's the strongest argument you could make, to not punish him here but instead deport him. But he wasn't, he served his time in the country he committed the crime (pretty standard I think) so now there is no reason to deport him.

What would it help to deport him? Wouldn't help him, he doesn't have any family where he was born. Wouldn't help the state, or anybody in the UK.

The current state of things is also ridiculous. He can't work, he has to waste government money and time checking in every two weeks. Travel which he has to pay out of pocket even though he has no job, god forbid he can't pay one day and is arrested. For 14 years this waste of time has happened.
