What's the origin of the many phrases that include a person's name?

Peeping Tom is a character from the legend of Lady Godiva (real Lady, probably made up story). Basically Lord Godiva was an asshole / tyrant and Lady Godiva begged him to have mercy on her subjects.

He was all "well if you like them all so damn much go ride a horse naked across the whole land so they can all see yo hoeass"

and she was like "OK then you'll stop being an asshole? Bet."

and he was all like "do it then bitch."

So she fuckin' did and all the subjects averted their eyes and/or stayed indoors except some weirdo named Thomas who was subsequently struck blind or dead by some angels or some shit.

Also it's sort of common (experiential) knowledge in mental healthcare that addiction just hits the pause button on whatever developmental stage you're in then sobriety unpauses it and you have to start dealing with whatever psychological stage you were avoiding at the time. So if you start using at 14 then get sober 15 years later you're gonna be sorting out identity vs role confusion at 30 fucking years old. And the stages are really spaced out as you get older so if you turn into an alcoholic in your late 30s and spend 15 years before getting sober it's not going to be such a noticeable gap since you were mostly finished with intimacy vs isolation anyway and you're only missing like half of generativity vs stagnation.

TLDR; it doesn't mess with your development only before 25 it's just much more noticeable when a 30y/o still acts like a teenager than when a 50y/o still acts like a 35y/o.

The hot shower contrasted with the cold carbonation plus the chemical relaxant is an utterly transcendent sensation. And if you start with about 10g metamucil and a zyrtec then before turning in for the night drink a bottle of pedialyte (or 1:1 water:Gatorade) you can drink a mf 12-pack a night if you want and basically never get a hangover that's not super complicated lol. You start running into other issues like b12 and iron deficiency or gout like waaay down the line but if your goal is just no hangovers that's actually laughably simple to avoid.

dumb it way down

I tell unfriendly cis people I'm female but I let them mistake me for male if it benefits me (my work is managing violent behaviors so some confused patients act better if they think I'm male).

I tell friendly cis people and especially children "kinda both kinda neither."

I tell lgbt people "what're you the Cops?" or "that's proprietary information and and I don't have a copy of the NDA form on me."

And my answer to the pronoun question is "what you call me when I'm not here is none of my business."

I guess if I had to pick one it'd probably be 'it' because I've always wanted to be the weird side character probably something like a janitor or something except you're not entirely sure I'm human and I show up once per book / season, easily fix exactly one (1) problem, then completely disappear again.
