There are many valid reasons outside of a sitewide protest for a subreddit to go from public to private, so Reddit doing this is a scummy move on more than just one level. Just one more reason why free alternatives like lemmy are superior.

Its a stupid trend, but at the end of the day teenagers will do stuff like this no matter what generation you look at. I hope they can become educated to why this is bad and you shouldn't do it.

I mean as cliche as this seems to be an an answer, I think the best solution is to not try them in the first place. You can't lose if you never play the game.

You might want to consider using Waydroid. In case you haven't heard, it's a container approach (like podman or docker) to running Android on standard GNU/Linux systems. It works very well and integrates near perfectly.

Unless it's Google hardware I don't really know what they could say. It would have been better for them to contact actual Chromebook manufacturers such as Lenovo, Acer, or Dell.

I've been able to run it on systems for years on end without them breaking, so it has lived up for me.

One big advantage of openSUSE Tumbleweed compared to other distros (especially rolling release ones) is it's package manager integrates with BTRFS snapshots so if something does break due to an update, you can roll back to a previous snapshot and still have a usable system and plan what to do next. One of the very few times that things actually broke in Tumbleweed for me (and many other users) I was able to roll back to a snapshot that wasn't broken, waited a few days, than updated to a release that wasn't broken.

Also, a more personal reason but I started with openSUSE (11.4 to be specific) back in 2011, so it's always felt like home whenever I use it.
